I'm a bit surprised by the comments that this has clear instructions - I find them a bit muddled and difficult to follow, and small but important details are left out. On a couple of occasions, I followed the instructions and got nothing like the pattern they were showing - but by adding a stitch or doing something slightly different from what's actually stated in the instructions, I was able to replicate them (ie, the instructions were incomplete). Moreover, there is at least one huge error: one of the sections shows a knit into the front of a stitch and a knit into the back of a stitch on facing pages, and the identical diagram is shown to illustrate both types of stitch! Worse yet, the diagram is actually of a purl stitch for both of them. This really makes you lose confidence if you are trying to work out whether a pattern isn't working because you aren't following the instructions properly, or whether there is just another error.
This book might be acceptable for very experienced knitters who can work out the small details for themselves, and trouble-shoot for themselves to figure out why a pattern isn't working - sort of like cookbooks that are great if you are an experienced cook and know the secrets of folding or sauce making or whatever, whereas a novice might be confused by an instruction such as "make a roux..." with no further detail. But, when a book has "step by step instructions" in the title, you expect the instructions to be... well, step by step.
I would not recommend this book to anyone other than extremely experienced knitters. But, someone that experienced probably doesn't need a book like this, so I'm not even sure I can recommend it for the experienced knitter.
