Islands of all kinds... 25 Aug. 2012
By D. S. Thurlow - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
Despite its significant expense and size, this "Encyclopedia of Islands" is a fascinating and even quite useful reference book for a number of interests, from geography to biology to geology to just plain curiousity. Its thousand pages capture descriptions of hundreds of island, backed by dozens of biogeographic articles about birds, fish, vegetation, geology, weather, and other features of island-related science. It contains a couple of different and well-organized tables of content and a good index; in between are interesting articles, typically illustrated with photographs, maps, data charts, and diagrams. Anyone interested in islands from Bermuda to St. Helena to the Marshalls to Hawaii should find something here.

The Encyclopedia of Islands may be useful to the geographer, the natural biologist, the fisheries analyst, and even the curious general reader; it is highly recommended to all those audiences, even in used (and cheaper) condition.
