Book Description

7 Dec 2012
Since its roots in 60s-era rock, heavy metal has smashed eardrums and shattered musical boundaries, inspiring millions around the world to grab an electric guitar and crank their amplifiers up to eleven. In this essential, irreverent and illustrated guide to all things metal, veteran headbanger Daniel Bukszpan narrates the history of the music, from trailblazing acts Black Sabbath, Metallica and AC/DC to modern standouts like Killswitch Engage, Mastodon and Girlschool.

4.0 out of 5 stars encyclopaedia of heavy metal 20 Mar 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
this was slightly disappointing as it focussed on the followers of the genre NOT the trailblazers who led the way.....so therefore not too much on groups of the late 60s /early 70s........

1.0 out of 5 stars Worth for the pics only 18 April 2013

The writer try to put so much thing into one book and he only focused on certain bands while some other band has very little info and almost doesnt tell anything important.
3.0 out of 5 stars [Three-and-a-half stars out of Four], The only Metal Rock book you'll need 5 Mar 2014
By Rich The Reviewer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The Cheap Trick section of two pages in here has two priceless pictures of the 'Tricksters in their prime
with Bun E Carlos and Jon Brant onboard, during the 1983 Next Position Please / Up The Creek era, &
that alone was worth the price of this book. But there is so much more, too! Every badn you can name
that can be considered even a little Metal(ish) is covered. I'm NOT that big a Metal fan, per se, but this
excellent book covers 'Em all, from soup to nuts, A-Zed! Pick Up On It!

Thi.s is the completely Revised and Updated edition of The Encyclopdedia of Heavy Metal.
It has bands in here that I've never heard about, good info as well. The size of the book has been
wisely downsized, it's a lot lighter to hold in your hands, no more straining. Most info on the bands
also have been updated as well, nice color photos. This would make a nice gift for the Metal-head in
your family.
