My hard disk case arrived this morning, four days after the order was placed. It came complete with power cord, transformer and USB cable. Interestingly, the 3-pin 240volt plug molded onto the end of the mains cable has a much smaller profile than standard UK mains plugs, which in itself is not a problem, but it does not appear to have a fuse fitted.
It took about 5 minutes to fit my 80GB hard disk from an old desktop pc. On connecting the USB plug to my laptop and turning the power on, the laptop recognised the device but could not see the hard drive within it, even though I had set the hard drive jumper to Master. I pulled the hard drive out and set the jumpers to Slave. Same problem. Pulled the hard drive again and set the jumpers to Cable Select. This time the laptop recognised the HDD and everything is now working well.
I echo what has already been said about the plastic tabs needing quite a lot of force to operate. I would suggest setting the hard drive jumpers to Master first. If this doesn't work then try Slave and Cable Select. Overall the hard disk case appears to be well made for the price and it does what it is supposed to. But the main gripe is the lack of instructions and for this reason only I give the product four stars.
