Kathleen "Katie" Chandler lives in a one bedroom apartment, with two roommates, in New York. Her awful boss goes from hot to cold in an instant and treats all her employees worse than any animal.
Suddenly Katie begins getting job offers, via email, from MSI, Inc. It has the feel of a scam, but Katie is getting desperate to change jobs. So she goes to an interview. Turns out that MSI stands for Magic, Spells, & Illusions. It is a company that sells tricks of the trade to the magical beings in the community. Katie does not take much persuading. She has been seeing people with wings (whose feet do not touch the ground), a stone gargoyle that changes positions and buildings (and seemed to wink once), and many other odd things. Katie has always assumed no one else seemed to notice because they were used to it and she had just not been living in NY long enough.
Katie takes the job and begins working in the department of Verification. Katie's ordinariness is rare. Few people, such as herself, lack even a drop of magic. Magic will not work on Katie. Therefore, she can easily spot a fake spell, see hidden clauses in contracts, detect any magically disguised intruders, and more.
The company needs "immunes" like Katie very badly. An ex-employee is threatening to sell black magic on the streets. If the magic community begins using dark spells, it will harm more than just the magical people in the world. Katie and her new bosses must save the world as we know it.
***** This is a stand alone novel, but I sure hope it becomes the first of a series. Katie's love life is not mentioned in my synopsis because she has her sights on more than one potential guy. I am told that this is Shanna Swendson's debut novel. I would never have known by reading it. The writing is superb and the story is seamless! Fans of Charlaine Harris's "Southern Vampire" series will especially enjoy this new author! A fun and witty read! *****

Katie Chandler is a girl from Texas who has moved to New York, and is finding life in the city a bit of a disappointment. She doesn't like her job and is always short of money. Then she is recruited to a company called Magic, Spells & Illusions, Inc, who sell spells to the magic community. Katie has a rare talent, she is a mortal who is entirely immune to magic, she can see through any spell or any disguise, so she is valuable to MSI, because she can spot any attempt to slip a dodgy clause into a contract, or sell a worthless object disguised as a valuable one.
The company has a problem because someone is selling black magic spells to the stores that stock their magic products, and they need to stop him. Katie finds herself fighting evil, and also developing a crush on a dishy young executive called Owen. Katie is a nice girl, but not particularly interesting, and the same could be said of all the other characters in the book. The story is fairly amusing, but I felt it could have been both more exciting, and funnier. Pleasant, but a little bland.

Love love love this book! Anyone who likes any sort of magical fantasy - harry pottery, lord of the rings, etc - will definitely enjoy this book. I so hope it gets turned into a film! Love to think there are real fairies and wizards walking amongst us, if only I was an immune!

I liked Katie, found all the characters very believable and the story line is great. Don't let the above average price put you off, it's so well worth the money.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was quite original with how it's using mythical beings and it was quite addictive! I found myself not wanting to put it down. I'm happy to discover that it's a full series following the same main characters and that their seem to be seven books total, what I'm not so happy to discover is that they aren't all on kindle or even available in the UK.

For some reason Amazon uk seem to only have about three of them on kindle and four in total available, that wouldn't be a problem as I'd simply assume that they were just being released in the UK now, however it seems to be the first, fourth and last books available on kindle and the other book available is only on audio!

I'm hoping that they will all be available in the UK as this is a really promising series and I really want to read the rest of the books, I'll have to look for contact info and see if I can find out if/when all the books will be available in the UK.

The main character is Katie and the story is told from her perspective. I really like her character, she's down to earth and has some insecurities but is a really good person and a rarity in the books world as she's an immune, meaning that not only does she not have a speck of magic in her, she's also unaffected by magic meaning no one can successfully use spells on her and she see's through all magical illusions.

I love the other characters as well, her room mates Gemma and Marcia, her co-workers at MSI Inc Owen, Rod, Trix and her boss Merlin (yes that Merlin!). She has a crush on Owen but he's shy when talking anything other then business. She has herself convinced that he isn't interested in her but I think she's wrong and he's just bashful around females he likes!

I absolutely adored this cute little book! I'd been wanting to read it for a while now and finally received it as a Christmas gift and once I got started I couldn't put it down! I have read a few fantasy/cozy/ chick-lit type books as of late and all of them have left me wanting a bit more. Enchanted Inc. on the other hand delivered all that was promised and then some!

When Katie Chandler finds out that she is completely un-magical it doesn't seem like such a great thing, cause everyone wants to possess a little magic. But as it turns out this very trait makes Katie Chandler quite remarkable because she can see things that others can't...such as fairies, sprites, talking gargoyles (you heard me right, talking gargoyles) etc. Because of this gift she is hired by a centuries old company called MSI Inc. Magic, Spells and Illusions to be a verifier. To be sure that everything is on the up and up and no one is trying to get by on a little illusion. But when Katie realizes that MSI is in big trouble and she may be the key to saving the company she begins to wonder if she has bitten off more than she can chew.

This is the beginning to a wonderful series and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next installment. 'ENCHANTED INC.' is highly recommended!
