In many ways harking back to the Disney animated movies of old, Enchanted is a terrific, contemporary fairy tale. It mixes in live action with hand drawn animation to terrific effect, and in true traditional Disney style, it’s got a princess, a baddie and a clutch of catchy songs too.
At the heart of Enchanted is the wonderful Amy Adams, as the cartoon princess who arrives in human form in the middle of New York City. There, she must seek her prince, while finding her storybook view of fairy tale romance thoroughly challenged by a very modern New York. The film expertly mines this scenario for its many laughs, and even during the weaker moments, Adams easily sells the concept in a star-making performance. A pity that Susan Sarandon’s villain doesn’t get more screen time, though. The glimpses of her that we get are very, very good.
Enchanted does nonetheless benefit from a very strong high definition transfer. And what’s particularly impressive here is how well it handles the contrast between the animated and live action segments, both of which are backed by a lively surround sound mix. Ultimately, though, Enchanted earns a firm recommendation not just for the quality of its Blu-ray release, but for being a genuinely funny and charming modern day fairy tale, with real family appeal. A real achievement, and an accomplished mix of old and new Disney. --Jon Foster

My young daughter dragged me to see this film without me really knowing too much about it. As soon as the film starts, you are immediately taken in by it and absorbed into the story. The special effects are simply outstanding and the coming together of the make believe with the real world is extremely clever.
The story has all the elements of a modern classic including the song and dance. I cannot recommend this film highly enough, and will certainly bag my copy on DVD.

I have seen this film twice with my 5 year old daughter and loved it both times. I love New York so it helped that it was set there! The acting, the storyline, the fairytale element was all excellent and was very funny throughout. Will definately be buying this film and I am not sure if its for my daughter or myself, would recommend to anyone with children or adults who like a silly, comical fairytale.

My family and I weren't too sure what to expect when we sat down to watch this. My eleven-year-old son actually said, 'It's not going to be all mushy, is it?' Well, there's a couple of kisses, but nothing that could annoy the boys in the family, some real laugh-out-loud moments, an over-the-top prince who is just great, a wicked queen, a likeable heroine, and a hero who is absolutely yummy. If you haven't seen this film, you're in for a treat. Great entertainment, and my twins both said, 'Can we watch it again?' and there's no higher praise than that!

Great family DVD
I bought this for my daughter who is almost 4 as she really likes Disney princesses. It was a great film for us all to watch and we liked the mix of human characters and cartoon.
