This is an excellent introduction to the art of encaustic. Full of practical tips and inspirational images, it is easy to read and follow. Having read the first few pages, I was guided and inspired to source the materials and make my own encaustic medium. I then went on to create my first encaustic painting for an exhibition. It received a very positive response, so now I'm hooked! I would recommend this book to any fine artist wishing to extend their range of media. This book is aimed at those wishing to pursue the technique as a fine art. It is not for hobbyists who have no experience of painting.

Having recently gone back to working in mixed media, I wanted a guide that would give me the whole truth regarding making medium, techniques and handling. This book is all that and more. If you are interested in just dipping into encaustic or are wanting something to inspire and kick start a new direction, this is the book to use - as a manual, as a project starter, as an ideas resource - in short, the best book on the subject I have seen.

This is an excellent book with extensive details of working methods of several artists across a wide net of mixed media used with encaustic. This book ticks all the boxes for information, inspiration and layout. A must buy for anyone interested in using encaustic.Enjoy!
