Easy read, limited new content and some entertainment value

If you are older that dirt like me you can relate to the empty nest syndrome and you can relate to the desire to chart some new and boundless territories. This book has entertainment value and is worth buying a used copy just for the boat library (or the yacht club library). Maybe being a man dilutes some of the contents of this book. I think my wife liked it more but I read the whole thing and enjoyed various chapters.

Christie, Christie, Christie. Where to begin? Your book is absolutely wonderful and SO beautifully written. With the vivid pictures you painted with exactly the right words, you took me right along with you on your life-changing journey of discovery. And the way you slipped so seamlessly into the little back stories was masterful. I enjoyed your colorful adventures on land as much as your triumphs and trials at sea. But best of all, it was so honest and heartwarming. You bared your soul for the all the world to see. And that was just as brave as the way you handled the storms, and the dives that scared you but you did it anyway. Well done, my friend. I'm proud to know you.

What a great adventure Rick and Christie had - and what an interesting, fun-filled book Christie has written. Her writing style is breezy, intriguing and makes you feel like you are right there.
From the great people they met along the way, to cooking on-board, to the visualization of Rick carrying the motor in a suitcase to be repaired; you laugh, cry and hold your breath with them all the way.
A must read for anyone contemplating a long sailing trip or those of us who enjoy a good armchair read.
