5.0 out of 5 stars A classic album that will never date 8 Jan 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
The only album I have ever listened to and loved straight away.It remains my most favourite album of all time and with stunning songs like "And I moved" and the title track "Empty Glass" its not surprising.I cant believe its not one of the worlds best selling albums - Its fantastic. Pete Townshend surpasses himself in achieving a sound years ahead of its time and one that has never dated.I forget that I am listening to an album more than 20 years old!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pete Townshend's Best Solo Album. 21 Oct 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
Empty Glass, Pete Townshend's 1981 work is considered by many fans to be the greatest solo album of his long career, after a couple of listens it's not hard to see why! The synthesized element to the songs adds that other-worldly almost religious element found earlier on "Who's Next." Songs such as the brilliantly catchy single, "Let My Love Open The Door" and the outraged "Jools and Jim," found Townshend back at the top of his game. Former punk producers Bill Price and Chris Thomas really seemed to have brought the best out of him, to make an album which radiates vitality.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic listening material 25 Jun 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
"Empty Glass" is the first Townshend solo album I have bought. I instantly liked it and decided I would definitely buy some others of his when I got bored with this one.
That was over a year ago, and I still haven't bought another... odd because I really want to, but everytime I put on "Empty Glass" I am so blown away by the songwriting and the production of this album. Townshend is as close to genius as possible (I don't believe in genius outright!) If you love The Who, you will like this, unless you just love that band for the power-chording. If you like the Who for the parts that Townshend sings in their catalogue, then I would describe this album as the best thing that could ever happen to you.
Tracks like 'Rough Boys' 'Cat's In The Cupboard' and 'Empty Glass' rock, while tracks like 'My Love Open The Door' and 'A Little Is Enough' are just expertly put together pieces of music. The former of these last two is one to file under "playful," which, as a matter of fact, is where you should file the whole album.
