Great value for money 12 Nov 2009
This box is all about value for money and for my use - networked media streaming, it's perfect. Bad points: the firmware is a bit sluggish, the previews take up to 10 seconds to appear, the remote control is a bit cheap and nasty. Good points: the price, the price and the price. If you want a flashy media player, spend at least twice as much money on it, but if you want something cheap and cheerful, this is the one. There is also a blog dedicated to it (link from the manufacturer's site), which is useful for troubleshooting and updated firmware to download, which allows you to disable the slow previews.

Unit good value for the money and easy to setup, I would have like it to play more formats though! If I was buying again I would buy a player that could handle all the normal formats, maybe Emprex might release an update to facilitate MP4 , MPEG etc

It is a nice unit, i originally bought mine for 99 Euros in maplins a couple of years back so it is currently at a good price.

It will play most formats, the user interface/menus etc., are very hard to navigate and dated even after the latest firmware update, but my number one gripe is the useless remote, that will break on you, (i am currently on my second!). The remote has a very small angle of operation, so forget it if youre slightly left or right of the unit on the tv stand and also forget about operating the remote from more than 8 foot away from it.

It does the job, but the remote will annoy you from day one and the worst thing is that you cant just operate it with an all for one remote or similar, (believe me as i have researched it!). The unit will run very hot after a while too.
