"Employment Law" introduces the issues involved in the regulation of employees and their relations with their employers. It explains the framework governing employment contracts, dismissal procedures (including a new updated chapter focusing solely on the statutory dispute resolution procedures) and redundancy payments. It fully updates the position with regard to sex, race and disability discrimination as well discrimination on the grounds of religion or belief and sexual orientation. Maternity and paternity rights are covered, and the latest changes to maternity and paternity leave, adoption and flexible working are included. The book has been updated to take account of the recent European Court of Justice and House of Lords' decisions in Celtec v Astley and House of Lords decisions in Sero v Lawson, Majrowski v Guy's and St Thomas', and Matthews v Kent and Medway Towns Fire Authority. It also covers the key Court of Appeal decisions in Fraser v HLMAD, Taylor v OCS Group, Khan v Heywood and Showboat Entertainment v Owens as well as a number of important EAT decisions on the interpretation of the statutory dispute resolution procedures including Bupa v Cann, Spillett v Tesco Stores, Shergold v Fieldway, Alexander v Brigden Enterprises and Mason v Governing Body of Ward End Primary Schools. All new relevant case law has been included. Further revisions include details of the relevant financial limits on compensation, parental payments, sickness payments and the national minimum wage. Flowcharts have been added to the end of a number of chapters.
