Product Description
"Employment Law" is a thorough and practical introduction to the issues involved in the regulation of employees and their relations with their employers. In clear, succinct language it explains the framework governing employment contracts, dismissal procedures, redundancy payments, working time and maternity rights. It also highlights the increasing obligations placed upon employers with regard to discrimination and health and safety at work. This new edition has been fully revised and updated to include a new chapter, focusing on the new statutory dispute resolution procedures and the new tribunal rules that have been introduced as a result. The chapter includes references to the first EAT decisions that have started to emerge on the new regulations and procedures, including Grimmer, Richardson vs Mole, Moroak and Noskiw. The book contains up to date information on the Information and Consultation of Employee Regulations 2004, the Disability Discrimination Act 2005, and the current versions of the draft regulations on age discrimination and the transfer of undertakings. It has been fully updated with all the relevant new case law, including important Court of Appeal decisions such as Marks & Spencer vs William-Ryan (time limits for presenting a claim to the tribunal), Waltham Forest vs Omilajw (last straw doctrine) and Hinton vs University of East London (compromise agreements). Further revisions include details of the relevant financial limits on compensation, parental payments, sickness payments, and the national minimum wage.
