There is a much better option available. 12 Jan. 2015
By Robert Shaver - Published on Amazon.com

I am writing this review because I was mislead by many of the other reviews. I wasted my time and money.

If you are looking for marketing hype, a fast read and access to some of the jargon - the Kruse book might be just what you are looking for.

On the other hand, if you are serious about pursuing employee engagement and looking for actionable steps based on decades of motivation theory and real world research - save your money and time. Do not buy this book. I encourage you to purchase Magic: Five Keys to Unlock the power of employee engagement by Tracy Maylett and Paul Warner.

Kruse provides a few examples from his experience and the popular press.
Maylett and Warner provide hundreds of examples from companies around the world.

Kruse relies on his "own experience and analysis of the available research" (p. 21).
Maylett and Warner draw on decades of theory, solid research and the survey responses of 14 million employees from "thousands of corporations and government agencies in more than 70 countries" (P. 6).

Both are selling consulting and training services. Both books are written in non-academic language, easily understood by anyone in a management position.

Full disclosure: I do not know any of the authors. I have no vested interest in the sales of either book. I am a business educator who has taught this topic for more than a decade. The Maylett and Warner book is the best I have encountered in this subject area. If you are going to invest in employee engagement, the Maylett and Warner book is the right tool to start with. Business leaders need more business books like this one. I will give copies of the Maylett and Warner book to my clients. Employee engagement is worth the investment.

Great book with practical advice 5 Mar. 2012
By Brad Aronson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This book is a practical guide for engaging employees. Everything in here is actionable. No theories or long winded writing. The overall point is summed up in a quote in the book from the CEO of Campbell's Soup: "To win in the marketplace . . . you must first win in the workplace." If you don't have an engaged workforce, your business just won't grow.

Good step by step instructions for engaging employees, implementing a company survey that works, getting better at communications and retaining employees through engagement.

This book is full of strong how to advice. Because there is no fluff, you can read the book in a couple hours and have a lot of smart ideas to use in your workplace.

A Great Read 4 Jun. 2013
By A Fan of Kevin - Published on Amazon.com

Employee engagement is very important to our company. A year ago we were going through some tough times and our employee engagement score was low. I went looking for ideas on how to improve our employee engagement and a few good books to read.
Came across Kevin Kruse's Book "Employee Engagement 2.0, though only 59 pages it is packed with real life information and straight forward advise. I got the book read it , had each of my 4 managers read it. We worked at applying the ideas in his book and over the past year have seen a great increase in our teams employee engagement score. and overal better communications within our team. Got to keep working at it though and keep working it every day. Definitely a worth while read

Highly recommend this book for anyone trying to tackle one of the toughest managerial issues of all time 11 Jun. 2015
By Glenn Leibowitz - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
As a long-time front-line manager responsible for hiring, evaluating and developing people, I wish this book was available much earlier! Kevin offers immediately actionable advice and delivers it in a compelling way, with hard facts and stories we as managers can all relate to. His framework for implementing employee engagement is incredibly useful and actionable, and does not require hiring him or any other consultant to make it work. I highly recommend this book to anyone trying to tackle one of the toughest managerial issues of all time.

Easily read with lifetime implications 24 Sept. 2012
By George Constantinou - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
Employee Engagement 2.0 is an amazing book. Kevin Kruse managed to distill invaluable know how, from his own experience, in a book that can be read over a weekend but can have life-long implications.
The author guides the reader through practical steps on Why, How, Whom and When.
It ends up with a well-defined process of increasing employee engagement, on which the reader could very easily build in order to make it context specific and applicable for his/ her particular environment.
