Empires: Dawn of the Modern World is a real-time strategy (RTS) game that allows players to completely command unique, historically based civilizations to conquer the world. Spanning from the Middle Ages to World War II, players will lead their empire through brutal battles. Each nation has its own historically accurate units and abilities to be used as gamers command battles over land, sea and air. The game spans the most recognized time periods in the history of the world--from 950 AD to 1950 AD, including the Middle Ages, the Gunpowder Age, the Imperial Age, WWI and WWII. In addition, each nation has its own distinctive gameplay based on its traditional strengths and weaknesses. For example, the English were masters of the sea in the Gunpowder Age and the Germans had superior armor and tanks in WWII. Gamers can choose to play single player campaigns or story-based campaigns or take on friends in the multiplayer mode. The game also has gorgeous 3D graphics. Not Final Cover.

I must have one of the strangest hobbies in the world: I love reading strategy guides!
As far as I'm concerned, the game sucks. But the strategy guide rocks! It is well written, well laid out, user friendly, detailed, informative, interesting. I enjoyed the strategy guide so much, it made me reinstall the game!
The guide seems to highlight the "good aspects" of the game, and certainly adds to the fun. But what was important to me, was how the people who wrote the book seemed to have hit on the important bits. Many strategy guides have whole chapters which are useless. In this book, all the information seems relevant, and it is in a logical order. Easy to use, definately adding fun to the game. This strategy guide comes highly recommended!

I always buy strategy guides to the games that I own. I have at least 15 of them. This guide is one of the finest. Empires: Dawn of the Modern World is a terrific game and this strategy guide is always open when I play it. Barba does an excellent, excellent job on the 3 campaigns. The summary of each civilization is perfectly detailed.
Not too much, not too little. This book is a must have for Empires enthusiasts.
