Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Set across the landscape of the Second World War, Hidden and Dangerous is played out in the style of Rainbow Six and Rogue Spear. Your task is to command a four-man team of soldiers through a series of 23 missions across enemy lines.

But be warned, this game is no walk in the park, with the mission getting progressively harder as the campaigns go on; the usual gung-ho approach doesn't work here. For starters, the bad guys are no longer blundering idiots waiting for you to attack. If they see you sneaking around they will raise the alarm and fire at you.

The weapons list to help you complete these missions is formidable, with everything from German Stick grenades to the impressive Bren gun. Yet firepower alone won't help you, with an equal balance of cunning, tactics and sometimes stealth needed to complete this game.

And if the plethora of Second World War weaponry isn't enough to keep you happy, then the thought of being able to interact with any machinery or weaponry found within the game might get you there.

This game is nothing short of brilliant and will have you playing into the small hours of the night attempting to complete the campaigns. It is best described as Tomb Raider set in the Second World War, but with bigger guns, more people and more powerful enemies. --Stuart Miles

4.0 out of 5 stars Superb graphics shame about the bugs!!! 30 Nov 2001
What a game, as a newcomer to WW2 action games i was amazed at the quality of graphics and realistic gameplay. It was an absolute pleasure tempered only by the total aggrivation caused by my crack SAS soldiers surviving a frantic firefire only to fall through the ground to an untimely death, or die unexpectedly, just as the mission was about to finish. Despite these major flaws in the programming i found it a real pleasure to play a game which combines the action of a first person shoot-em-up with the strategy of risk, a really taxing game. I also found that the speed of reaction of the nazi soldiers was excellent, meaning that you have to be a very fast shooter to survive, making it a harder and more challenging game. A must have game, can't wait for hidden & dangerous 2

4.0 out of 5 stars Absolute classic - absolute bargain! 3 Oct 2001
H&D stands the test of time as one of the all time great PC games.
Commanding a squad of commandos on daring behind-enemy-lines missions in WW2 the scope of the game is massive - over 20 varied missions over 6 campaigns. The attention to detail in the individual levels and to historical accuracy overall is exemplary; this is nothing less than a PC game of those great old guys-on-a-mission movies like Where Eagles Dare and Guns of Naverone.
Why only 4 stars then? Well, H&D is notoriously untrustworthy - the game is very buggy although the included v1.3 patch fixes most of them. The game is also frustratingly hard at times but the underlying concept and execution are so superb that the game succeeds despite these problems and has entered legendary status amongst gamers.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is an all time classic 23 Feb 2002
By Rob
OK, I am saying this having owned it for along time and finally having ironed out it's problems, the biggest of which is that I had to download no less than 15 different sets of drivers for my graphics card before I found one that worked properly.
With the patches that are now available you can get the game up to it's brilliant best, and once it is there it is fantastic. The gameplay is deeply involving and the atmospherics brilliant, and despite the age of this game the graphics are blinding. This is one of those game where they don't rely on stupid designers cheats to create levels of difficulty and there is a level of AI which although not outstanding, is as good as you'll find.
This game is fantastically involving and you can eat up your day quite comfortably with it, although it is a bit of a pain until you get it sorted out, once you have it is absolutely amazing. BUY THIS NOW
