Product Description

When Dante wakes up on a battle field among the dead of his fellow countrymen, he retraces the path of the dark army that appeared from nowhere. When the shadow army disappears once more, the soldier returns to his king and is soon sent on what will become an epic quest to stop the Dark Emperor, a being from another world using Alus to transport his armies unseen in his own world.
Meanwhile, the apprentice wizard Darius joins his own mission to seal the new portals appearing randomly and without warning. Word of monstrous armies terrorizing the innocent people of Alus has come to ears of the wizards of Aerwold, who are there to defend against such portals forming between worlds.
On two separate quests, the two men, one a soldier and one a wizard must find the strength and means to save their world before the Dark Emperor can destroy not only their world but the world of elves and dwarves.
Only the creatures of the Dark Emperor, elves, dwarves and dragon stand in the way of the two men and the salvation of both worlds. Can two men and their companions find a way to save two worlds from an undefeatable foe?

4.0 out of 5 stars A long read 27 Aug 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this after reading Battlemage which deservedly rated 5 stars. This was more difficult to read because for long periods the story jumped from one character to the other. While the storyline and writing were good the whole thing seemed to get bogged down for a while in the middle. Our heroes both journey at the behest of seers who hint that what they do will eventually lead to the downfall of the Dark Wizard who has almost won one world and is looking to invade their own. They each learn their own powers, gain allies and eventually win through. A good story which would win an extra star with a bit more editing. This author joins the list of those I will continue to read.

3.0 out of 5 stars An interesting Backstory 7 Jun 2014
By Amazon Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is an interesting book and provides back story to the main Battlemage section of the story. However this is very obviously an early work of the author and while ok it doesn't really develop and flush out the characters as well as it could. Also the plot is a little cliché and the characters have several moments where they behave in a very wooden fashion.

A good book to read for background on the main series but not a book I would start reading the series from. Better to start at Battlemage and come back to this one.

A great series for the wars and unrest involving the people of Alus and their efforts against the evil forces that continue to threaten them.
