Remember the Stereo MC's?

Their top 20 hit single "Connected" featured on many mobile 'phone adverts and "Step It Up" their biggest selling hit single was huge - but that was way back in the early 1990's.
Since then, a few albums were released but Mr. Birch & Mr. Hallam failed to quite match the success of their #2 selling UK album "Connected".
That is until now....

Emporer's Nightingale is full of intelligent, catchy, mature man's dance songs, using up-to-date sounds, vocals, electronica, guitars, drums - great beats, memorable hooks, harmonies and floor filling anthems.

They appear to have moved on and are sounding exciting and fresh, less emphasis on the Rap / Hip-Hop side of things but still using plenty of sounds that tie in with those genres, so old fans should not be dissapointed.

"Boy" (feat. Jamie Cullum) has "hit" written all over it!
"Manner" is just so catchy too, a superb feel to it, soaring chorus backed by an infectious rythym & has the potential to hit high in the charts.
"Tales" is yet another track which shows that the Stereo MC's can still write hits for the discerning listener which will also pack many a dance floor!

Every time I listen to this album, a different track becomes my favourite - it's not just the 3 or 4 songs that immediately grab you, the others grow and grow.

It's definitely the time for you to either Connect or get re-Connected with the Stereo MC's. Emperor'S Nightingale

5.0 out of 5 stars Distinctive, fresh, and very slick 21 Sep 2011
By Mr. Stuart Bruce TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE
Format:Audio CD
This is a really polished, solid, modern pop album. Stereo MCs have been carving out their own musical path for a while now, seemingly without worrying too much about what's popular. But rather than sticking to any tried and tested formula, every time they release a new album, they push their sound forwards, and they've clearly still got their finger on the pulse.

As with their previous albums "Double Bubble" and "Paradise", these songs still have some distinctive Stereo MCs flavours- the vocals will always be recognisable for a start. Then they also bring in up-to-date noises; on previous albums it was breakbeat influences, on "Emperor's Nightingale" there are dubstep influences blended into tracks like "Sunny Day" and "Bring It On". Even the rather worrying guest appearance from Jamie Cullum on "Boy" manages to work.

Rather than making it sound like Stereo MCs have just jumped on a bandwagon of whatever electronic music is doing at the time, the result is an accomplished blend of up-to-date and classic Stereo MCs. If you're expecting this to sound exactly like their music of 20 years ago, you should check it out, and be very pleasantly surprised.

2.0 out of 5 stars Love the Stereo MC's But Didn't Enjoy Emperor's Nightingale 26 Jan 2013
By Aaron Stewart - Published on Amazon.com

I enjoy the thumping, classic club sounds of the Stereo MC's. I first found out about them on the Hackers soundtrack, and then started going through their albums. However with Emperor's Nightingale the Stereo MC's experimented with a more ambient tone, which unfortunately leaves behind much of what I find Iconic about them in the first place.

Hopefully Stereo MC's continue to evolve artistically, but if you like their classic sound you may want to give this album a pass.
