loads of material 9 Mar 2010
By love reading TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE™ VOICE

I am a big fan of the For Dummies books. This, like the other ones, provides loads of information and material and, in my opinion, gives you a lot more than an introduction.
As always this book is written in an accessible and engaging way. It is split into manageable chunks with clear, structured headings. This makes it less daunting as I just read a few sections at a time.
There is a wealth of material about emotional intelligence which is all straightforward and the book offers clear and simple techniques to help improve your EI. It also shows the benefits of it.
For me, emotional intelligence or lack of it is easy to spot in others but it is not so easy to self-assess. This book offers valuable insight into doing this but also reveals that even if you are well adapted in this area, there is always room for improvement.
I would definitely recommend this book as an excellent introduction and some into this interesting topic. It is a useful resource for yourself or to use with others. There are sections on bringing up emotionally intelligent children. In my opinion, you could only benefit from reading this book. It's worth every penny.

good book on EI 8 Jan 2011
Format:Paperback
I used this in my MA major project - it was the least pretentious book I read on the subject. Infact, it helped me understand my wive, my son, my entire family ... and myself better. It's worth every penny - and I wouldn't recommend any of the other books I read ( even by the big names in EI ) - they were boring and pretty out dated. As self help it is very good, to get on with people you can't stand at work it is brilliant. It should be on every book shelf!

As you'd expect this book is easy to use and understand, having worked with EQ (Emotional Intelligence) for a long time I wanted to help a teenager through a difficult period and am using this book to help grow his EQ: so far it's working well. Anyone interested in EQ will find this book interesting and informative.
