Beautiful... 7 Jun 2005
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I only very recently discovered Steve Thorne, when flicking through a copy of Classic Rock i came across a short review of this album and a few days later took a chance and ordered it. I had a feeling it would be good but i have to admit it exceeded my expectations. Steve`s music is rich, melodic and progressive with a hint of folk yet still accessible, the songs are beautifully crafted and the lyrics very meaningful. The songs are mainly acoustic with some great flutes and ambient keyboard parts, Steves voice is strong, clear and melodic. Steve has roped in some great musicians to help out in the studio, fantastic bass player Tony Levin, Geoff Downes of Asia and Yes and Nick D`Virgilio of Spocks beard, Genisis and Tears for fears fame. Every track is of high quality and with Emotional Creatures: Part two on the way the future looks very bright indeed for Mr Thorne. I didnt have the opportunity to hear anything from the album before i bought it, trust me, you dont need to, you wont be dissapointed.

This album gets the most plays in the home out of any other CD. After seeing Steve supporting Jadis at Mr. Kyps live music venue in Poole, Dorset, he impressed me so much I had to buy the album. The last time he appeared, my wife came along and was equally impressed, hence the large amount of plays. Steve has a Peter Gabriel type voice, which is immediately addictive and more than pleasing to hear. It is impossible, I think, not to enjoy his music, and the sounds within the songs illustrate as much as the lyrics. And yes, lyrically he paints amazing pictures, and I recommend this to any rock fan out there. If you can catch him live, do so. He plays acoustic and sings to backing tracks from the album, but when you hear it you'll realise why, as most have so many sounds and instruments within them, it'd take quite a large stage to house the necessary musicians. An exceptional talent, an exceptional album, it deserves ten stars rather than the five we are permitted.

A new dimension 16 May 2007
Format:Audio CD
I came to this album knowing absolutely nothing about the artist, but trusting a friend's assertion that I would like it - I LOVE IT!! This is such a musical blend of rock, prog rock, a bit of folk but with a contemporary theme that sets it apart. Steve Thorne writes powerful, meaningful lyrics that would mark him as a great talent on their own even if he just strummed along on a guitar. But such is his talent that these lyrics luxuriate in sophisticated, rich and interesting arrangements. Of course he has an awesome line-up of musicians in the credits but he plays the lion's share himself. There are no low points on this CD, only 11 highs.
