Book Description

3.0 out of 5 stars Emmett 24 Mar 2008
Format:Paperback
For those DP fans wanting to build up collection & avoid duplicates hero is Emmett Deverell & heroine Melody Cartman. In my opinion one of DP's more average reads but enjoyable nonetheless. Happy reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read... 16 Dec 2006
By Krystal - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
A good book with just minor setbacks.

The good things:

-Emmett's kids. I think it was interesting to see the male character already having family. It was a challenge for the love story with 3 kids in between. Good aspect.

-Melody's attitude. Very strong female. She knows exactly what she wants. She always told Emmett her feelings, she was open to everything, and actually in this case, she even seemed more passionate than Emmett. She also tries to befriend his children in order to build a family. Great character.

The bad things:

-The relationship with Emmett's ex. I think it is a little unrealistic that the ex wife can just come along after she left her husband in the middle of the night and with 3 kids. I dont believe it would be that easy to forgive someone for that. It just seems too perfect.

-Emmett's relationship with his kids. Although it is hard for a dad to deal with 3 kids, it seems like hes more worried about getting into bed with someone than educating and caring for his children.

Overall, its a good story. I recommend it, because its a little different than the usual bachelor and timid female. It comes up short on some things, but a good one nonetheless.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not one of my favorites 19 Feb 2012

I love Diana Palmer, don't get me wrong.

In this book a young girl, Melody, the hero Emmett blamed her for helping his exwife to ran away with her brother and leave him and their 3 kids behind. Later on she moved to his ranch and is trying to helping him with them but they are brats. They want nothing to do with poor sweet Melody.

Also, his exwife story is part of the book, she loves Melody's brother and they are having a baby. At the end after all that Emmett and his kids did to Melody they fall in love and get married.

The problem that I have with book is that i don't consider a girl almost a teenager to be mature enough to deal with all the problems that Melody had to deal with. Don't get me wrong she did well in the book. But during the whole book I felt that he was robbing the cradle. Also he could have been more romantic. I still love DP, but this book won't stay in my bookshelf.

4.0 out of 5 stars Emmet 16 July 2011

This is one of the older books that she launched and started the 'Jacobsville' storyline of a small, but great little community.

3.0 out of 5 stars The bones of the story are good 28 Feb 2014

It is just too similar to other Palmer stories, he always starts out disliking her and treating hr cruel, sh always has a job that barely allows her to live on. He of course is rich and when he finally takes her out, she wears the only "nice" dress she has, black, spaghetti straps exposing her creamy white shoulder, before she leaves she drapes a mantilla over her shoulder. She is twenty to his thirty-six and let us not forget that everything he does is elegant and his chest hair is thick and curly.
