I have installed both the Emma Care and the BabyDan locks. They both work well but for ease of installation and less damage to furniture the BabyDan wins easily.

The Emmay Care locks have a piston that fits into a hole you must drill in the drawer or cupboard. This means it's impossible to test the positioning first. It also means more work installing.

With the BabyDan you can choose to use the adhesive pads rather than screws if you don't wish to permanently damage your furniture.

I got these locks for my entertainment stand, to safeguard my ps3 and dvd player etc against my terrible two.
The item works perfect but i must say that it was a bit of a pain installing it. The instructions arent too helpfull and you do have to drill quite deep for it to work. So that meant in my case getting a drill and bits also (read more £££££ !) Anyways after a few trial and errors finally managed to get it sorted. The magnetic key which looks like a door knob is an eye sore also.
If you are not good at diy's i'd suggest a stick on lock or get someone who knows what to do.

It took me a lot of careful drilling to get these things working cos you do have to drill quite deep into your door or the magnetic system doesn't work but there are little extension parts if you do have thick doors. They are also quite tricky to use cos you have to get the magnet in just the right place or they won't open.... my mother in law doesn't even try anymore!

But all that said, they work brilliant! Our little one is no longer interested by what's in the cupboards cos she knows she can't get in. And unlike most other systems which have to open a little in order to work, these don't open even a tiny bit until the magnet is in the right place so there is no chance of a little curious finger getting caught.

I'm really thrilled with these. I cant speak for the ease of installation as my husband did it. It did take quite a long time and he accidentally drilled right through the cupboard... Read more

Great for little fingers that love to explore.
Works great on a normal midrange laminate kitchen. My only observation is I would not use the drill guide supplied. I would purchase a metal drill guide. Read more

May work for some
Seems like a great idea. However, your cupboard/drawer door must be less than 26mm thick else the magnet won't work. Read more
