Unless "Emmanuelle IV" is viewed uncut, in the French language, and in it's original aspect ratio, it loses much of it's effectiveness.. which is why this Region 2 from Momentum Pictures is the edition to get. Beautiful picture quality, and the respectful treatment that this release gets, makes it comparable to the other three parts in this four part series. (There are later Emmanuelle films, but they are not part of the legitimate series with Sylvia Kristel..) Of the four films, "emmanuelle IV" is certainly the most fun, and the most adventurous. In fact, this one is so out there that it borders on science fiction. This is total fantasy/escapism from start to finish, mounted (pun intended) quite beautifully. Mia Nygren as the woman Sylvia Kristel becomes after extensive plastic surgery, is possibly the most gorgeous actress to play the part of Emmanuelle. and the erotic scenes are among the most graphic in the series, a couple even bordering on hardcore, while never becoming less than elegantly filmed erotica. Recommended for fans of cult and strange cinema, but see parts 1-3 first, to understand what it's all about...

The worst DVD I know

After seeing this film on TV in Germany I was interested to see it on DVD, because I think it is really erotic film. BUT the film on the DVD is not real Emmanuelle 4. So many scenes are cut that it is hard to recognize the film. Even worst is the qualitiy. I cannot understand that they write digital remastered on the package.
Even this one star is too much!
My advise, don't buy that DVD!

I always thought this one of the better Emmanuelle films and it still is but this has got to be the worst DVD's ever. It's not so much DVD artefacts that the actual master seems to be from a home video recording with the bleeding colours and tape dropouts a dead giveaway. There is no reason to get this on DVD unless that's the only way you have to see this. Film gets three and a half stars, DVD only one star. A pity

Gotta get the original

This film has had an interesting history. I first saw it in Germany in the late 1980's and loved every minute but when I tried to find the video in the U.S. all I found was badly edited versions. Then on a business trip to Canada I stumbled across the Cinema Plus version distributed by Trans Canada Video, this one is complete, unedited, the dubbing is reasonably good and all the sex scenes are intact. I have no idea how anyone could find another copy now. In it's original form this is one hot video!
