    soggy base in the oven. I preheated in my weber hooded bbq and the pizza base got a bit too brown. I'm an experienced cook and I've tried a few different approaches and not got a perfect pizza yet. I'm trying to get that high temp real pizza oven effect. I might try a few more times. It burnt the wooden board that I put it on after taking it from the bbq.

    This is an extremely well-made, high-quality pizza stone that's washable! The handles make it easy to lift in and out of a hot oven, and the glazed exterior makes clean-up a breeze. I have mainly used this stone for baking artisan breads (my husband and I love Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day) and the cornmeal or flour used to help the dough slide onto the stone simply brushes off after the bread is done baking. I ordered the Olive green color, and besides being one of my most prized kitchen staples, it's beautiful! If you're looking for a high-quality baking stone--look no further.

    What is the BEST pizza stone? Answer: Emile Henry Flame Top Pizza Stone. Well that sounded promising
    I bought Emile Henry's tajeen a few years ago and absolutely love it! $49.00 was steep but without tax or
    shipping Amazon's offer was too good to pass up.

    This pizza (bread) stone is fantastic. It's beautiful and unlike other stones that doesn't stain and can be washed either by hand or in the dishwasher without having the stone "bleed" a soap taste into whatever you bake next and the gorgeous ceramic finish doesn't stain and is perfect for serving.

    You can use it on all types of stove tops: gas, electric, halogen as well as induction stove tops AND all
    types of ovens: traditional, convection and microwave safe. You can even use it on gas, charcoal and wood grills!
    It keeps hot longer, has great even heat distribution and can be heated to extremely high temperatures (up to
    700F degree for searing). The glaze is micro-crazed just like a pizza oven so crusts come out crispy and well baked.

    It will turn your grill into an outdoor pizza oven...FABULOUS! It is much less liable to crack into two
    pieces after you've used it a dozen times like cheaper stones...and no bulky metal cradles or juggling clumsy stones this super ceramic stone has built-in ceramic handles! Perfect for serving, pizza, bread, you can cut on the surface without worrying about scratching it and finally heat it and use it as a warmed serving tray.

    On the day I received it I made a white pizza of Gorgonzola cheese, pears, crispy walnuts and turkey for a few
    friends. The crust was perfectly crispy on the bottom (my former stones wouldn't have been able to handle keeping the crust as crisp with this recipe). I cut and served the pizza on the same stone right from the oven...delicious and it stayed hot for second servings. So perfect it blew us all away and my guests jumped up to log on to Amazon to order the Emile Henry Stone before leaving both for themselves and as gifts.

    I don't give out 5 stars very often but this thing is exceeding my expectations for use as a grilling stone.

    It is rated up to 700 degrees and my grill tops out at 600 and after about 15 uses I have not had any issues.

    You don't put this thing in cold on top of a flame It goes on a cold grill and let it heat up with the grill. Same for removal. Let it cool down. I have used mine about 15 times to cook veggies/fish/shell fish/steak on the grill and it does an amazing job. It will sear chicken, steak and fish. We have had amazing results.

    Grilled onions and peppers, brussel sprouts, beets, eggplant, etc!

    Grill corn on the cobb and move the small pieces off the flame to the stone to finish.

    Seer marinated chicken first on the stone then move to flame to finish. The chicken is moist and tender and presentation is very attractive!

    I grilled some baby bok choy by using the edge of the stone to lay the leafy part on while the bulb was grilling (steam itself) on the open flame.

    The stone is great for controlling cooking if you wish to continue to cook but not burn. On a large grill its a nice accessory to have this!

    I use olive oil to promote the cooking and keep from sticking.

    This stone gets dirty and the carbon is very hard to remove. Scrub with light abrasive will not scratch. I will use soaked paper towel while it is hot to wipe it down some before it cools. You can take a sharp razor to scrap some of it off once its cool to remove stubborn material. Don't think it will look like new unless you want to put in the work. It will perform very well despite the additional material. Since its designated for grill duty I don't know of many things that will stay pretty with that use.

    I used granite stones and they all cracked after 2-3 uses so after 15 or so uses I am hopeful this product will continue to serve this purpose.

    With this product I have had some of the best results in over 30 years on the grill

    It def makes frozen pizzas better 8 Dec. 2014

    This works very well and makes great pizza. I have only tried it on a few different types and have always found the crust is better on the pizza stone than not on the pizza stone. I will admit I only have used it to cook frozen pizzas. I primarily like the frozen California pizza kitchen pizzas and this does cook them very well, the crust is always great, it does add a few minutes to the cook time but its well worth it. It works even better for the cheaper frozen pizzas. I hate the cheap varieties but have eaten a few off the pizza stone and they are much better than they are in the oven normally.

    So in summary, my overall impression is makes California pizza kitchen pizzas a little better than normal and it makes the cheaper tombstone, etc pizzas MUCH better than normal.

    I always use this in my gas grill and have found that its best to let the stone warm up in the oven from the start. I normally use a mezzaluna pizza cutter to cut the pizza on the stone which usually leaves a little chees on the stone but its never been an issue. I have not put it in the dishwasher but know it says this should be fine, I normally just wipe off any cheese that has been on the stone. Have seen no performance issues.

    I had been looking for a pizza stone for a while before discovering this one. Stones in the same price range seemed to have frequent breakage issues. I don't have to transfer pizza to another surface after baking to cut it. And I had never seen one you could use on the grill! Anyway, I love this pizza stone. I ordered the black, and have used it once for pizza, and once just as a warm surface for serving hot food on the table. It is attractive enough to work as a serving platter. It is not to heavy to carry, and the handles are very functional. I feel like I can use it for much more than just pizza or bread. A great buy.
