Product Description

CD Description

'Emigrate' is the eponymous debut album by Rammstein guitarist Richard Z. Kruspe. A thrilling and dark mixture of metal, industrial and hard rock, the album is a worthy offshoot from one of the most successful metal bands of all time. Includes the tracks 'New York City' and 'My World'.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mutter's Boy Steps Out Of Line, 29 Jun 2008
By The Wolf (uk) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Emigrate (Audio CD)
That Mr Kruspe sees fit to release a solo project away from the safety
of his long-term home base is of course his prerogative and birth right.

A brave step too in some ways, given that it presupposes a belief that
he has something worthy and sufficiently different to say away from
The Motherland.

Emigrate is a project not entirely without merit.

Kruspe's distinctive chunky and abrasive guitar together with Mssrs Involtini, Giroux and Johansson's
equally solid and competent contributions embrace a collection of thirteen largely MOR rockers.

That he has abandoned his native tongue entirely on this album suggests hunger for international
credibility but I have some doubts that this material is strong enough to fulfil that ambition.

'Emigrate', 'Wake Up' and 'My World' are all worthy stompers to open proceedings.
There is then a very long lull until penultimate track 'Blood' picks up a bit of energy
only to lose it again with the truly awful closing song 'Help Me'.

Loyal Rammstein fans may well wish to follow in his footsteps but on this showing
Mr Kruspe has done little more than lead us into a rather dull cul de sac.

4.0 out of 5 stars Emigrate, 20 Sep 2007
Like all my fellow reviewers, I am a big R+ fan and was really interested in listening to Richard Kruspe's solo album. Had I not been a R+ fan, in all honesty, I probably would not have brought it.
The album has essences of R+ with heavy riffs and a strong drum beat. However, that is where the similarities end. This album stands alone without being an 'off-shoot' of R+. It is energetic, original with a 'Rob Zombie-ish' quality.
Mr Kruspe was always, in my opinion, the least appealing of the R+ crew. However, this album has dramatically changed my mind. This album is not R+ and does not pretend to be. It is something new and emphasises his talent as a creative musician.
Should you purchase it? If you are looking for a new R+ album, no. If you want an imaginative, strong and different sound, absolutely; yes.
Worth the money? A resounding yes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough, 6 Sep 2007
By G. I. Iversen (North-Norway) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am a die-hard Rammstein fan (also with the tattoo and all their stuff), so of course I preordered this album and waited in breathless anticipation.
The first time I listened through it, I must admit I was disappointed. It was way too much of a "pop" album for my tastes. However, this is the kind of album that sort of grows on you. After listening to it a few more times, I found it a lot better.
Richard's voice sounds quite different than when he contributes vocally to a Rammstein song, but it is nice.
Some of the songs are quite good, such as "Wake up", "My world", "Blood" and "Let me Break". But if you buy this album, be prepared for a few not so good songs, such as "Babe", "Temptaion" and "Resolution". I was actually a little embarrassed by them.
The song "In my tears" sounds very similar to the Rammstein song "Stein um Stein"...
The lyrics of the album seem very personal and some are charming. But I doubt I'd have enjoyed this as much if I didn't already love Richard Kruspe.
Conclusion; good enough and definitely a must for fans of Herr Kruspe.
