Arguably the best three albums/mini albums recorded by the Scorchers (although I would certainly recommend checking out the new release - 'Halcyon Times' - which certainly recaptures the guts and gusto of these earlier offerings). Jason and the Scorchers were, and still are, undoubtedly unique and iconic rock'n'rollers who created something truly original. Branded 'Cow Punk', but in reality capable of hugely diverse styles varying from the the earliest raw and punk-meets-B52's sound of 'Help There's a Fire', through rip-roaring classics 'White Lies' and 'Shop it around', the absolute peak of their song-writing (in my humble opinion) in 'Broken Whiskey Glass' through to the subtle and beautiful, non-cliched country sounds of 'Still Tied' and 'Ocean of Doubt'. If you haven't heard the Scorchers yet, you love gutsy , honest rock'n'roll and you can get your head around a band who are not afraid to mix such contrasting styles, this really is a quite excellent collection. For the once-converted who have lost touch, this is a fantastic reminder of a band who are still out there, still kicking it live, and still well worth catching up with. Oh yes, and there are a few bonuses not on the original albums thrown in for good measure. Go on, get Scorcherized!!

In their original configuration, there were few more exciting combos than Jason & The Scorchers. An unusual amalgam of Country songwriting and hard rock guitar, they didn't always get it right, but when they did, they were tremendous. This is a top value double CD collection that yokes together all of their EMI America recordings, when the band were on fire. Theirs was a sound that never really caught on, but sounds as good now as it did way back when (over a quarter of a century ago, unbeleivably enough).

Really, the only JATS albums a new or casual fan needs 20 Mar. 2014

This the essential Jason & The Scorchers album to buy, especially if you are just finding out about the band, and want to know which album to purchase first. My only gripe is with the mastering. This album just isn't nearly as loud as it should be, especially for the style of music JATS played. I would love to see this collection be remastered in the future.

Compilation of three LPs worth of work from the legendary Jason & The Scorchers band 4 Nov. 2008
By Rich The Reviewer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
32 songs including both versions of Absolutely
Sweet Marie make this Jason & The Scorchers disc
a classic - but wait. I give it three-and-a-half
stars out of five only because they have too many
compilations out already [not their fault here that
a former record company is doing it again!], and
the disk one year ago is better. Also try Midnight
Roads and Stages Seen for the 'Best Of...(through
'98!) LIVE!! Pick Up On It only if you DON'T alre-
ady have one J & T S compilation disk.
