Product Description

Together with the British Paramedic Association and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Jones and Bartlett Publishers is proud to publish this paramedic textbook synonymous with ambulance education on both sides of the Atlantic: Emergency Care in the Streets, originally authored by Dr. Nancy Caroline. In the United States, this textbook has been central to paramedic training since the 1970s. Its reputation traveled to the United Kingdom where it was adopted by front line ambulance staff. Much loved and greatly respected, this textbook is still unrivalled in its ability to speak directly to the paramedic through humor and wisdom. Now, for the first team, the Sixth Edition has been adapted by a team of UK paramedics! Dedicated to the late Dr. Caroline, the Sixth Edition honors her work with: Progressive case studies that lead you through an emergency call from beginning to end Practical at-the-scene advice Notes from Nancy: Words of wisdom from Dr. Caroline A mixture of text, colour photographs, diagrams, and cartoons to suit all learning styles Skill Drills with written step-by-step explanations and visual summaries of important skills and procedures Challenging questions at the end of every chapter to stimulate your own clinical development

About the Author

The UK and Ireland edition was adapted from the highly respected US edition by a team of over 50 specialists in prehospital care in association with the UK's College of Paramedics. The manuscript was also reviewed by over 150 other UK and Irish prehospital experts before it went to press. No book project of this scale had ever been attempted by the prehospital community previous to this and the result is book of which they are justifiably proud.

5.0 out of 5 stars Energency care in the streets, 24 Jan 2008

This review is from: Emergency Care in the Streets (UK Version) (Hardcover)
Great stuff, I have always found this series of books to be an excellant resource for helping me develop my paramedic skills and knowledge, though have admitedly found it tiresome deciding which parts of the book I could incorporate into my own practice. This new version though carries on the all the good tradtions of previous books i.e. clarity, ease of reading and pick-upability (I do not know if this a real word, if not it should be) but all parts of it are now relevant to me and my practice, I am sure it will prove to be a great purchase for all who buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jon - Paramedic ECP, 30 Jan 2008

This review is from: Emergency Care in the Streets (UK Version) (Hardcover)
This new, anglo version of the cardinal emergency care text is a must for all paramedics, ECA/Techs and ECPs. The chapters are clearly written, informative and have upto date images and contemporary detail. This is both a fantastic study aid and source of reference material. It is well worth investing in this historically pivital pre-hospital text book. Well done NC.

This is by far and away the most important Paramedic manual in years. Written in clear precise English designed by Paramedics for UK practising Paramedics. Five stars.
