Book Description

On the night of November 19, 1973, following surgery, thirty-one-year-old wife and mother Betty J. Eadie died....

This is her extraordinary story of the events that followed, her astonishing proof of life after physical death. She saw more, perhaps than any other person has seen before and shares her almost photographic recollections of the remarkable details.

Compelling, inspiring, and infinitely reassuring, her vivid account gives us a glimpse of the peace and unconditional love that awaits us all in the afterlife. More important, Betty's journey offers a simple message that can transform our lives today, showing us our purpose and guiding us to live the way we were meant to live -- joyously, abundantly, and with love.

In today's world of violence and uncertainty, the message of Embraced By The Light comforts troubled hearts and dissipates fear. It creates hope for the future, meaning to life, wholeness and happiness of heart in the abundance of God's love, which transforms every sorrow into joy.

Product Description

‘The most profound and complete near-death experience ever.’ RAYMOND MOODY

From the Back Cover

Betty Eadie died after an operation, but was later to recover. It was during the intervening period of a few hours that she had what has been described as 'the most profound near-death experience ever'. Her description of her experience in this astonishing book is one of the most convincing arguments for the existence of life after death, adding to such accounts as George Ritchie's 'Return From Tomorrow' and Dr Raymond A Moody's 'Life After Life'.

You will not fail to be moved by Betty's story. A devoted mother with a loving family, she embarked on a voyage of discovery, leaving her body and learning 'the joy of spiritual freedom'. She saw more, perhaps, than any other person has seen before, and came back with an almost photographic view. 'Embraced By The Light' recounts the people she met, the truths she learned and the magnificent realities of the spirit world.

The afterworld Betty visited was a sphere of understanding, peace and joy. She was given a message to share with others that has filled hundreds of thousands of people with hope. Her experiences changed her life forever. Reading this fascinating, dramatic, and thought-provoking book may change yours too.

Betty J Eadie is a mother of eight children and a grandmother of eight, and is married to Joe. The daughter of a Sioux Indian mother, she left school at 15 to care for a younger sister. She later returned to finish her high-school education, and is now close to completing a college degree. A registered counsellor, she owns a successful business, and works as a volunteer for a major cancer research centre.

Betty's extraordinary experience has led to television appearances in the United States and Japan, and to her participation in a university near-death studies programme. Over the years she has given hundreds of talks about her experience to many groups, including Compassionate Friends (serving those who have lost loved ones), church groups of many denominations and IANDS (International Association for Near-Death Studies).

"The most Profound and Complete Near-Death Experience Ever"

"A profound and moving book which is more than an account of a near-death experience – rather it conveys an illuminating understanding of the meaning of life, reminding us of Christ's essential message of love"
DAVID LORIMER, Director, 'Scientific and Medical Network'

"One cannot but be caught up in the power of Betty Eadie's experience – whatever it was – and in the profound sense of listening to someone who has been in the presence of God"
MARTIN PALMER, Director 'International Consultancy on Religion, Education and Culture'

"There is a great secret contained in 'Embraced by the Light'. It is something that the great prophets and spiritual leaders have tried to tell us for thousands of years. Betty Eadie learned it by nearly dying. It has the power to change your life"
MELVIN MORSE, M.D. Best-selling author of 'Transformed by the Light' and 'Closer to the Light'

"Even after interviewing over one thousand near-death experiences, Betty Eadie's account remains the most detailed and spellbinding near-death experience I have heard. What happened to Betty is thought-provoking, inspirational and comforting"
KIMBERLEY CLARK-SHARP, 'President Seattle International Association of Near Death Studies'

I had this book recomended to me by a person I respect quite a lot and thefore I thought I would give it a go. Firstly I am a lapsed catholic but I do still believe in a higher being whether that is God/Jesus/Holy trinity, I don't know, I just know there is something out there I also believe in an afterlife, and am interested in NDE etc. I have also lost my mum and witnessed her dying so, I have quite an open mind to these things

When I started reading the book I found it quite enjoyable and found it easy to read. I could idenify how she went after first dying to visit her family and the first parts of the light and tunnel seemed ok but I started to feel (I cant explain why) quite uneasy with her description of heaven, the looms with people embroiding and started to feel even more uneasy with the council of men at the kidney shaped table and her arguing with Jesus who told her to return to earth as she died prematurely. I still read with interest however, I just didnt feel comfortable with the whole experience she was descibing although elements of it did ring true. I did feel at times that I was having a religion lesson pushed on me somewhat.

I felt a lot of what she said was a little contradictatory. Firstly she says there is no hell but when she returns to her body, these demons come to attack her in her hospital bed and she is told they are angry at her for returning to earth and that they were Satan's messengers trying to destroy her.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books I have ever read 17 July 2003
By A Customer
What a fantastic, encouraging, comforting and exciting book which any open minded Christian will love. It will probably change your outlook on many things which are hard to comprehend (illness, premature death, etc). Many fundemental questions are satisfactorily answered such as 'why do so many religions exist?'
If you only ever read one book, this should be it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Transforming Experience 14 Dec. 2004
This book highlights the transformation that occurs at true NDEs, and the psychic phenomena that often accompanies experiencers is shown clearly here. I think this book together with Psychic Gifts Tools to Connect by Dr. Snow (another NDE experiencer) make some of the best reading on transformation from NDEs that I have ever read. Both also highlight how the choices we make here in our lives ripple on through to our death experience, and how we can connect to our higher selves and each other, and fine tune powerful spiritual abilities, right here on earth. We all have much to gain from reading these accounts.

1.0 out of 5 stars Born Again Christian Beware 6 Feb. 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Born Again Christians should research this book before buying, as it contains many contradictory teachings from true Christianity. She is a Mormon after all. 'Do not waste your money', is my advice. I could only read the first 46 pages before I twigged that something was drastically wrong and I had to stop reading, rather than be assaulted by it's weird teachings. Buyer beware. I want my money back. The fact that it topped the best seller list etc. does not make it right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Life-changing 4 Feb. 1999
By A Customer
This book can be read in two to three hours, but that doesn't lessen its importance and the all-embracing, truly wondrous messages that it carries. It is direct, yet it is far-reaching. The author takes us on a tour of the heavens, via the true reasons for our being, what is good and what is bad, etc etc. No review can do it justice, especially this one! <g>. Don't buy it if you are happy being miserable. Buy it, read it, keep it for life!

3.0 out of 5 stars A good message but very flawed 24 Feb. 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I first came across Betty J Eadie on Youtube and was impressed with her story, so I decided to go one step further, read the book and see what all the fuss was all about.

Well, I admire Betty's mission to spread the message of the importance of love and how to treat each other with kindness, but her story is tainted by her overly religious references and use of language to describe her experiences, so much so that at times I felt that I was being forced into a patronizing stance having to wearily 'read through the lines' to guess what might have been her actual experience rather than her much later religious interpretation of it, after it had morphed into her own religious consciousness through the passage of time (Betty wrote the book many years after her experience).

Surely the true beauty of these experiences would have been far better extolled if there had been less filing in with subtle religious conjecture and reference after the event, which she must have felt injected more meaning into the experiences for her personally, but must be as frustrating or disappointing to others as it was to people such as myself, who don't have a Christian belief-based frame of reference. For some people, this could even be experienced as an attempt to brain wash, as it does read like Christian propaganda at times, even when it's obvious this is just the spin she has personally placed on it.
