Book Description

8 Dec 2011
"Embrace Your Inner Wild: 52 Reflections for an Eco-Centric World" is a brilliant, full-color book of photographs and reflections that invite you to seek out wildness wherever you find it - within or without.
Don Moseman's spectacular photographs feature the wildlife and terrain of Marin County, California: the fiercely intelligent eyes of the coyote, the spiraling hawk in the supine sky, a bobcat prowling through golden grasses. These photos are paired with reflections by Mary Reynolds Thompson to awaken the reader to wonder. And to oneness.
Don spent twenty-five years in San Quentin maximum-security prison in Marin County, California. In 1989, got sober and went straight, encouraged by nature as a guide. Later, taking up photography, the patience he learned in prison paid off. Don knows how to wait for the wild to come to him.
Since 1983, the natural world has been key to Mary's successful recovery from alcoholism. A life coach and facilitator of poetry therapy, Mary has developed a unique program of ecological spirituality that connects clients to their true selves through nature.
"Embrace Your Inner Wild" is a visual and verbal psalm to wildness, rooted in Don and Mary's shared love of the earth, its inhabitants, and the wild soul that longs to be set free.

5.0 out of 5 stars A special, special book 11 Nov 2011
By Leonore Doyle - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Part poetry, part prayer, part salve for the craziness of modern life. You have to hold this lovely book in your hand to feel just how special it is. Then, as with an oracle, open it to any page and see what the stunning photos and accessible, yet lyrical prose show you. My guess is you'll want to head outside for a walk in the wild.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love in Nature 11 Nov 2011
By Annie Hall - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
Reading this compact book is like meeting the famous nature photographer Brutus Ostling and poet, Emily Dickinson. The words and photographs unfold like miracles. Nothing is wasted in this vivid display of mediations and images. Up close, I see what I've missed most of my life. How can anyone live without this book? I wanted to see and read what I can't capture through my binoculars on my daily walks. This does the trick. I have several "nature" books in my library, but this one resonates the most. There is a reverence for nature here that is more compelling than other books. I take it on walks to quiet myself. And it works. This is one of those one in a million finds.
I saw this duo at Book Passage and I had to buy the book and I've never regretted it. It was a sellout crowd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Breathtaking 28 Nov 2011

Oh what a beautiful, lovely and moving book. The text and the photograph's are just breathtaking. I thought I would read it in bits and pieces but I just couldn't put it down. I started reading it as I was coming back from the mail box, I curled up in my favorite chair and savored every word and every photograph. A deep breath of pure joy.

I highly recommend this as a holiday gift, it is thought provoking, kind and heartwarming. I will read it again and again
