Product Description

Their whole life was a series of miracles. Can they really hope for one more? And as tragedy pulls their lives apart, can they somehow find that all-important time to embrace?

After twenty-one years, John and Abby Reynolds are back together and feeling like newlyweds. Together they are convinced they can handle the issues of their past, the questions from their children, and even the high-school politics that drain the joy from John's coaching career. But then disaster strikes...the type of tragedy John and Abby never expected.

The squeal of brakes and the crunch of metal changes everything. Suddenly devastation tears at the heart of their family, and the depth of their existence. In the process, their children falter in their faith and guilt colors everything about the future. Fumbling for forgiveness and hoping for a miracle, John and Abby must remember what is important and cling to that above all else.

Together, they're determined to move on with their lives. but is "together" enough for a future they never expected?

3.0 out of 5 stars A Time to Embrace by Karen Kingsbury 17 Aug 2010
By A. Kerr
Format:Paperback
This is an inspiring story of a couple who are rebuilding their marriage after finding themselves on the brink of divorce. Their newly-strengthened relationship is put under strain by problems at work and a catastrophic event which not only tests their relationship and their faith, but also shakes the entire community.

This was the first piece of Christian Fiction I have read and I did not know what to expect. The book focussed on the characters' relationships with God and the power of prayer.

I thought the book was okay. It certainly wasn't something I would normally choose to read. Much of the storyline revolves around High School (American) Football of which I have no knowledge or interest.

I think this book would be an inspiring read to someone going through relationship problems, or to a Christian who is perhaps struggling with their faith. The book certainly made me reflect on both my marriage and my faith.

"Relationships take work, son. Hours and days and years of getting close to that person. That's real love, real intimacy. If you train your mind to believe that the work isn't important, you'll not only be going against every plan God has for your life ... you'll lose out on a chance to experience the greatest gift He's given us. The gift of true love." "e;

Intimacy ... is the bond that God brings about between two married people. It comes from years of commitment, of sharing and talking and working through problems. Years of getting to know that person better than anyone else in life. A physical relationship with someone like that-that's intimacy. And anything less is a lie." "e;

The point of the verse wasn't to dwell on the certainty of hard times, but rather to be assured of God's victory through it all. "e;
