5.0 out of 5 stars Prepare to be blown away! 31 Dec 2001
By Tisha D. Boldery - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I love time travel romance, and this author is one of my favorite. But, when I bought this book, I didn't realize it was a war novel. Now I really don't like war time stories and I hate almost anything that isn't 1800's or before. However, I started to read this book and I was hooked. It is truly just a wonderful story, well worth reading. Full of surprises and it warms the heart. Dont miss out on this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eugenia Riley defines the time travel romance 8 Jan 2001
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
In 1945, Charleston celebrates the end of the war in Europe. Twelve years old Nate Bennett and his companion, nine years old Cathy Cheney, both living in St. Christopher's orphanage, hold off on celebrating. He hopes his RAF pilot father Adrian never comes for him because the English aristocrat abandoned him and his mother. Cathy loves her guardian, her sister Vickie, a nurse in Italy and wants her to come home for her. However, the two youngsters become involved in a dangerous situation after a killer realizes they witnessed a murder. Only Cathy's ghostly friend Bessie can save her and she does by helping the two of them go back in time.

When Adrian and Vicky arrive in Charleston to pick up their respective child, they are shocked to learn a fire burned down the orphanage, killing the two children. However, Vicky sees a strange apparition of her younger sibling and believes Cathy is alive. A seemingly natural disaster sends the two adults back in time to the nineteenth century where they begin to fall in love even as they find the lost children. Still both have demons to overcome from their natural time, making a permanent relationship in either century doubtful.

Eugenia Riley is one of the better authors of time travel romances and her latest entry, EMBERS OF TIME, is a warm tale that will please sub-genre fans. The story line is fast-paced and descriptive. The end of World War II, days before the 1886 earthquake, and 1818 Charleston (or is that Charles Town) seem alive through the awed eyes of the four lead players. Ms. Riley has another winning TEMPTEST IN TIME.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Time Travel! 19 Feb 2001
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Mass Market Paperback
Embers in Time is defintely not your run of the mill time-travel. The author skillfully mixes mystery, romance and the para-normal in a plot that will surprise and delight you with its twists and turns. The characters, well researched setting and complex story blend magically in this well-written novel.
