An Important Text 1 Dec 2001
Format:Paperback
There are precious few books out there right now that are dedicated to the subject of eVb. I have been seeking the perfect book on the subject for some time now. This, I am afraid, is not it. Though it is very good and far and away the best available at the moment. I commend it to eVb programmers as a very useful source for many eVb topics. Sadly - not all.

I too am trying to find a GOOD book on eMbedded Visual Basic. I am new to Visual Basic, although I am a OOP basic developer. I was hoping for more content on getting started and how to achive tasks rather than the explaination of building three or so products. I also believe the title to be a bit misleading as this book only covers PocketPC and NOT Windows CE Handheld PC v3.0 (which is what I have), there are sutle differences between the platforms which has made it difficult to build some of the demo applications.

I am sure this book is good but only if you are a Visual Basic developer and want to develope PocketPC applications, otherwise this book is an expensive paperweight.

OK, the truth is that I've only read the first 3 chapters. BUT, if I'd read these chapters last week, I would have saved myself about 10 hours of frustration this weekend! I'm totally new to eVB although I've been using VB for 10 years. The first 2 chapters of this book showed me language limitations that I've been struggling with all weekend AND are NOT DOCUMENTED in the eVB help files. I did buy another (unnamed) book on eVB but that one didn't come close to the information that I've read (so far) in this book.
