Biography

Elvis Aaron Presley is one of the biggest-selling artists of all-time, but mere numbers cannot begin to explain the colossal cultural impact he had in the mid-20th Century. He was a central figure in the transformation of the grey, conservative 50s into the technicolor 60s through the liberalizing effect of rock and pop music. Frank Sinatra had proved extremely popular in the 40s with young ... Read more in Amazon's Elvis Presley Store

If you're new to Elvis and wondering whether you should get this or 'Elvis: 30 #1 Hits', my recommendation is that this is the album to get. This 2-CD set contains all 30 tracks from that album plus 22 additional tracks including classics like 'An American Trilogy' and 'Viva Las Vegas'. A fantastic compilation that showcases what Elvis was all about!

Although this is another CD with all the track's that are already in my collection, this is for the NEW Elvis fan, just listen to "A Big Hunk O' Love" recorded in 1958 & then listen to "Burning Love" recorded in 1976 both brilliant yet years apart, that's how good he was.
Shame about the cover though,I don't mean the picture ( from his second film "Loving You" )I refer to it being reversed ( back to front )annoying this, sloppy really. Look at in a mirror, that's how it should look !

This CD is outstanding value for money and a must for anyone who wants to start collecting Elvis songs. There are fifty two tracks here given a wide range of Elvis vocals.Elvis had 17 no1 hits in the U.S.and 16 of them are on this CD,the missing track is I Want You I need You I Love You.He had 21 no1's in the U.K.18 of them are on this CD.The three that are not are I Got Stung,I Need Your Love Tonight & Little Sister, these were B sides that were counted as hits in this country. One Night/I Got Stung,A Fool Such As I/I Need Your Love Tonight,His Latest Flame/Little Sister and Rock-a-Hula-Baby/Cant Help Falling In Love. Some of the others are joint hits with the U.S. Charts. Also on it is the laughing version of Are You Lonsome Tonight when Elvis cracks up with laughter at one of his backing singers,i have this on DVD.This then is a CD thats got to be in your collection of Elvis,Buy it & enjoy.Highly Recommended.

This 2007 No.1 compilation released at the time of the 30th anniversary of his death captures 52 great Elvis tracks with a good representation of material from all stages of Elvis's career.

One thing slightly different about this compilation is that the hits are not arranged in chronological order. All the standard you might expect are included, but in addition there are there are a few minor hits (if there is such a adjective) that normally don't make a greatest hits compilation and the odd album only track. So for example, "Fever" from the "Elvis is Back" album of 1960, "Green, Green Grass Of Home", a top 30 single from 1975.

If you are looking for an Elvis greatest hits compilation Elvis 75 from 2010 is the most comprehensive. A top 10 release that coincided with what would have been Elvis's 75th birthday.

I was not alive when ELVIS was and yet he and SINATRA are 2 singers that have touched me. Today, I came across this compilation in HMV whilst looking for the "ELVIS: 50 greatest hits" compilation of 2000. this one it seems have very similar titles as the one i was originally after and yet, it had added ones that are priceless. "MY BOY" and "MY WAY" (both originally by Claude Francois (French) songs) are wonderful live and emotional versions here.
"Green Green Grass of Home" is lovely more country-style music.
"You Don't Have to say You Love Me" is so famous you must have heard it before too. There also more songs i didn't know....
this compilation doesn't have however "the Girl of My Best Friend", which i know from my previous Elvis: the Essential Collection. But i have to say i don't care so much cos this is fabulous. The live version of Are you Lonesome Tonight is very funny as he burst into a fit of giglles and he is a delight to listen to.
also note the anthem "An American Trilogy" here is not the live version i was familiar with but the studio recorded version, still beautiful but just has a bit less raw emotion.
CD1 is more rocknroll than CD2, more emotional:),the latter being my favorite side of the KING.
a must have to rock around the house and feel your heart with joy and emotion.

This is a great compilation by a great artist. Never mind the cover - just look at the number of hits! This double CD set covers most of his career and is a nice collection for beginners and old-timers (sorry - 'Rock 'n' Rollers') alike. Hail to the King!
