Biography

Elvis Aaron Presley is one of the biggest-selling artists of all-time, but mere numbers cannot begin to explain the colossal cultural impact he had in the mid-20th Century. He was a central figure in the transformation of the grey, conservative 50s into the technicolor 60s through the liberalizing effect of rock and pop music. Frank Sinatra had proved extremely popular in the 40s with young ... Read more in Amazon's Elvis Presley Store

ELVIS SECOND ALBUM WAS JUST AS GOOD AS HIS FIRST.

THIS IS ROCK N ROLL PERSONIFIED, TRACKS LIKE RIP IT UP AND LONG TALL SALLY ARE SMOULDERING AND RAW, FAST PACED AND EXCITING.

LOVE ME IS CLASSIC PRESLEY, THIS IS A FAVOURITE OF LED ZEP'S ROBERT PLANT AND IS A REAL CLASSIC.

THERE IS ALSO COUNTRY SONGS HERE TO, HOWS THE WORLD TREATING YOU IS FINE, YET MILES AWAY FROM HOUND DOG.

THIS IS A LEGENDARY ALBUM AND IS ESSENTIAL TO ANY FINE COLLECTION OF MUSIC,

5.0 out of 5 stars ELVIS ELVIS ELVIS ELVIS ELVIS 27 Nov 1999
By Mike Kurosky - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
What more can be said ? Elvis was the buzz in 1956. Nothing else really mattered as far as teenagers were concerned. This is a must have album for any Elvis fan or any fan of vintage rock and roll.

Elvis' biggest selling rac' uh record came from this LP. Hound Dog b/w Don't Be Cruel. There is no debating the impact this single had on the music world.

Personally my favorite is the much underrated Anyplace Is Paradise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock 'n' roll classic 26 Oct 2003
By Marc Haegeman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Elvis Presley's 2nd LP, originally released in October 1956 and a classic rock 'n' roll album. With the exception of "So Glad You're Mine" the 12 tracks on the original LP were all cut at the three day studio session for RCA in September 1956 and presented the characteristic and wholly spontaneous blend of rock, country, and rhythm 'n' blues which conquered the music world in those days. At the same time Elvis revealed another side of his talent with the ballads "Playing For Keeps" and especially the stunning "Love Me".

For the present CD re-issue some more hits from other 1956 sessions have been added for good measure. By adding "Too Much", not included on the original LP, the listener now has the complete September 1956 session on one CD. Required listening for anyone caring for rock music.
