For anyone who hasn't an extensive Elvis collection and wants to get as near as possible to hearing how he started, this is as good as it gets. It isn't complete, nor is any other release complete to my knowledge but it has more than any other collection you could buy within its covers. It has some inaccuracies in the take numbers of some of the tracks but so does some of the official Sony/BMG/RCA releases, therefore it would be unfair to point a finger at this release alone. It goes right to the very start with "My happiness" which Elvis recorded in 1953 as a private recording all the way up to his finish with Sun Records in 1955. The contents are excellent, including both studio and live recordings. The presentation is really top class with beautiful picture discs and a 16 page booklet. Highly recommended and well worth the money.

I've always meant to get some music that I grew up with- indeed, the reason I started playing music myself. I'd long since worn out or lost my 'old stuff' and had never got round to replacing it, boy, am I glad I did ! Thanks for asking, Derek Cook.

This shows Elvis at that early stage and why so many fans became devoted followers.

Wow. The original tracks recorded by the king himself. I don't think I have to go too far to say that this is an incredible piece of history on cd.

Historic recordings! 6 May 2008
By A Fan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This collection is a rock and roll timepiece! It contains songs recorded by Elvis for Sun Records in 1954 and 1955. The early recordings before he hit the big time. Each is a classic! Included are his first hits like "Blue Moon of Kentucky", and songs that made the Country Singles chart in 1955, "Baby Let's Play House", "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone", and "Mystery Train". Also included is an alternate take of "I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone". This is set is a must not just for Elvis fans but any student of Rock and Roll. These songs are the bricks that make-up the foundation of R&R!

The Sun Recordings is one of Elvis' best: raw power, sexuality, and pure fun.
