Product Description

Documentary that explores the last few weeks and days of Elvis Presley's life. Though the King of Rock and Roll is generally celebrated as an artist for his earlier work, the programme also attempts a re-evaluation of his later recordings and live performances. Interviews with members of Elvis' 'Memphis Mafia' and archive footage are used to reconstruct the singer's final days.

Product Description

Many would claim that the music Elvis Presley made towards the end of his life paled in comparison with that he made in the 1950s. But, as is often the case in the King's career, re-appraisal of those later performances and recordings reveal a passion and vitality as charged as anything he'd recorded during earlier times. This film documents the final years of Elvis's life, with particular emphasis given to his last few months on earth, and details in depth his final days. Presented in documentary style with plenty of rare and previously unseen Elvis footage, exclusive interviews with those who were with The King during his final days (such as members of the 'Memphis Mafia', other friends and colleagues and his spiritual advisor) news clips, archive interviews with the man himself and numerous other features to make, in completion, the finest film yet on this part of Elvis Presley's life.

I watched this a couple of nights ago with my wife who received it as a recent birthday present.
We both enjoyed it greatly as it fills in a lot of gaps about the final years and months of Elvis' life. Sad in parts but enthralling throughout, we recommend this DVD to Elvis fans everywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars The last days of the King 13 Dec 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This tells of what happened to Elvis in the last weeks of his life told by his friends & bodyguards Lamar Fike, Sonny West & others. As Lamar Fike says: Elvis took drugs because he liked them ,but what they either did or didn't know, was that Elvis was in pain from a twisted colon, he also had very high blood pressure & had problems with sleep - Elvis could not wind down & relax after a show & stayed awake until the following morning .
, Elvis's friend , hairdresser & spiritual advisor Larry Geller, told how Elvis was very ill - almost comatose, & Larry was dipping Elvis's head into a bucket of ice to revive him , when Col Tom Parker, Elvis's manager, burst into the room , stared into Larry's eyes & said : ' the only thing that's important is that Man is on stage tonight, nothing else matters, NOTJING!' It showed how Col Tom couldn't care less about Elvis , all he cared about ,I.e., the Col , was money . He lost thousands of Dollars gambling at cards ,Dice & Roulette , which meant that Elvis had to give a concert in order to pay the Col's gambling debts. Because the Col was an illegal immigrant from Holland, & his r

al name was Cornelius Van Kyuk not Tom Parker, he wouldn't let Elvis tour outside the U.S , nor let him star in good films like ' Midnight Cowboy' & ' A Star Is Born' . Elvis would have lived a lot longer had he got rid of Col Tom who was robbing him right, left & centre , & got himself someone else . Elvis May no longer be with us , but he is still THE KING!
