Product Description

It was back in January 1935 that Elvis Aaron Presley entered the world and, within a couple of decades, changed it whole heartedly for the better. The man who not only created what has come to be known as Rock N Roll in all its contexts, but also changed forever the meaning and perception of the word performance , humbly came into being in a ramshackle home in east Mississippi, living the first part of his life barely above the poverty line. But the man who would be King, for it was he, ended his days just 42 years later and only 90 miles away in Memphis, Tennessee, in circumstances wholly removed from those in which he started them. But the opulence, splendour, wealth and plenty that Elvis began to attract soon after the release of his first record was merely a side product of the King s talent, skill originality, and charisma. This box set features two films which look at, document and detail each end of Elvis s career. The Memphis Flash is a study of his early career in the 1950s and tells the story of how Elvis came to be the performer and artist he was. The Last Stop Hotel looks at his final years and most notably his last few weeks. Both films feature exclusive interviews with Elvis closest colleagues and industry insiders, rare footage, seldom seen photos, location shoots, news reports and numerous other features.

Product Description

Comprende due diversi documentari: The Memphis Flash, uno studio approfondito sugli inizi della sua carriera, e The Last Stop Hotel che invece documenta l'ultimo periodo della sua fantastica storia, in particolare le settimane prima della sua morte.

4.0 out of 5 stars All Hail The King 23 Mar 2010

This dvd comprises 2 dvds."The Memphis flash" and the second:"Last Stop hotel".The first dvd was great as I had not seen it before but the second was the same dvd called "The Last 24 Hours" that I already own. It had a different title and different artwork but it was exactly the same content as "The Last 24 hours".I think this is a poor show whoever put this together. How are we supposed to know if we already have a dvd if it has a different title and different artwork?

4.0 out of 5 stars Worth it for disc one 15 Dec 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
Disc one 'The Memphis Flash' is a documentary which focuses on Elvis' music at Sun up to his release of Heartbreak Hotel. The people contributing to the story are knowledgeable and include a music journalist, Elvis historian, Elvis biographers and friends who knew him at school and throughout his life. They talk about what made the man and how the man made such revolutionary music in the 1950s. Although, I already knew Elvis' story, I was engaged and enthused listening to these first hand accounts and the opinions of 'experts' describing the cultural phenomenon that was Elvis. The footage was mostly the black and white film from the cd 'Elvis Presley: the early years.'
Disc two focuses on the day Elvis died and it is exactly the same as the fourth disc in the 'Eternally Elvis' box set. We hear from members of the Memphis Mafia - Joe, Lamar, Sonny, Billy, Gerry, Larry and Marty. I had a slight interest in seeing these people as they are now but if you already know the story there was little that was new here.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money! 5 Dec 2011
I ordered this DVD set expecting to see lots of Elvis performances throughout his career and was really looking forward to hearing all his best loved songs again. I was extremely disappointed to find that this set of two DVDs is almost entirely people talking about Elvis - old school chums, his hairdresser, etc, etc. All extremely dull. I would certainly NOT recommend this to anyone
