He did it with ' A Kestrel for a Knave '(Kes), and now he's done it again with 'Elvis over England'.

I am the sort of person who will read one book, move on to the next, and never usually re-read the same book twice. However, with 'Elvis over England', I could read it again, again, again and again!

The character in the novel is Eddie. Over 50, overweight, and very jobless. The strain is taking its toll, and haunted by the memories of the sudden death of his friend Jedd when they were teenagers, he decides to buy a car just like Elvis's, and takes to the road, on a pilgrimage to Prestwick Airport, the only place in Britain where Elvis Presley walked on British soil.

The book is very funny, but at the same time, also very sad, and you just cant help but feel sorry for Eddie, and also for his long suffering wife. With violent tendencys, matters come to a head when his noisy neighbour plays one to many loud record in the middle of the night.

Buy this book now, read it, and I promise you, one day, you will want to read it again.
