Product Description

Product Description

"Elvis fans the world over constantly dream about what their fantasy would have been if they had been lucky enough to have known him.  Imagine having been Linda Thompson's best girlfriend and being with her the night she met Elvis.  Then imagine becoming Elvis' friend, being kissed by him, working for him, and the ultimate dream: having sleepovers at Graceland with Linda (actually sleeping in his bed) while Elvis was away, traveling with Elvis and Linda on concert dates, and taking pictures of the upstairs area at Graceland.  This book tells the story of how it all began and gives you a look at the incredible (some never-before-seen) pictures."

4.0 out of 5 stars It's Different! 22 Sep 2007
Format:Hardcover
I hesitated several times before ordering this book, thinking that it was maybe just another 'I knew him best', and secondly, I had never heard of Jeanne LeMay Dumas! She turned out to be a best friend to Elvis' girlfriend of four years, Linda Thompson.

It is well known among Presley fans that Linda was a good partner to Elvis between 1972 and 1976, and this book tells the story from the very beginning of this relationship to the very end. Jeanne was there from the start and witnessed it all - Linda's very first meeting with Elvis, life at Graceland and on the road, and the eventual frustrations and breakup. Jeanne also worked at Graceland and gives an insight from this angle too.

With a foreward by Linda Thompson to perhaps galvanise the author's authenticity, the book is very different from others in that it tells an outsider's personal story around Elvis and Linda. I found myself enjoying Jeanne's story more and more with each chapter.

Private pictures taken at Graceland and on the road are included in this book, though they are all in black & white with the clarity suffering from inadequate reproduction. Jeanne is even pictured sleeping in Elvis' 9ft by 9ft bed! Now you can't get closer than that!

I enjoyed reading this book, and got through it in three days. The stories of life in Graceland were interesting, as were the photos, which I had never before seen.

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant! 25 Nov 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a really great read, and gives an insight to Elvis life and his generosity to those who came into contact with him, and to the fact that he was such a womanizer who couldn't really be faithful to anyone, and why should he have been? He was the sexiest man on the planet and knew he could have any woman he wanted. Never again shall we experience a man of his talent and Fantastic looks.
