In the course of searching for the missing Elvis movie, Kinky explores his own deep, dark past, namely his simultaneous affairs with two women named Judy - Uptown Judy and Downtown Judy, both vixens of a fairly high order (if fuzzy memory serves him right). Prompting this review of ancient history is the sudden reappearance of Downtown Judy ready to resume their relationship, and the sudden and mysterious disappearance of Uptown Judy. That these two plots come together, and that the Elvis film is found, is to be expected. Nothing else in this novel, however, deals with anything remotely expected. Friedman's voice is feisty, sassy, irreverent, blistering, provoking, enchanting, mesmerizing and incredibly entertaining. In fact, Elvis, Jesus & Coca-Cola is much morethan another Kinky Friedman mystery - itself a cause of joy - it is an entertainment of the highest order.

About the Author
Kinky Friedman - commonly known to his many fans as 'The Kinkster' - first found fame as the lead singer of the country-and-western band 'The Texas Jewboys'. He is also the author of a series of highly acclaimed detective stories, featuring himself as the wise-cracking, cigar-smoking, cat-loving sleuth. He populates his novels with many of his friends and associates, portraying them (to their great delight) as villains, cheats and con-men. In the words of the great Willie Nelson, he is the 'best whodunnit writer to come along since Dashiel Whats-his-name'. Kinky Friedman lives in a trailer in the South Texas Hills with two dogs, two cats and Dilly, his pet armadillo.

The ultimate in fun reading, Kinky F's world has suspense, philosophy, acid flash-backs to the 60's, surreal goings-on in Greenwich Village and some of the weirdest characters! I loved this book, I laughed my head off and couldn't put it down (the book), and I know that I won't get that "yeh, yeh, very funny, get on with it" feeling when I read more Kinky F's because the guy is genuine and it's cool to hang out with him. And he talks to his cat.
Buy this book - buy THEM ALL!

This book turned me on to the wit and wisdom of `The Kinkster` a country boy made good in New York and one of the great, laid back characters of our times. Funny, witty, intelligent, brash, dirty, strong, big hearted with plot lines that are both bizarre yet strangely logical, this un put downable book has encouraged me to buy all his output! Highly recommended if you are open minded and dont mind laughing out loud!

Not the Kinkster at his absolute best, but a fine addition to the Kinky canon. A great gift for the as yet unKinked - but watch your collection - once Kinked they'll be after more.
