Reviews

Documentary which operates on the premise that Elvis Presley faked his own death and has since been masquerading as Jon Burrows, an FBI agent. When director Joel Gilbert filed a Freedom of Information Act request seeking documents on Elvis, he was puzzled to find references in the documents to a Federal Agent called Jon Burrows, one of Presley's stage names. Gilbert tracks Burrows down in California and spins an alternate history of the late musician's life in which Elvis feigned his own death in order to masquerade as Burrows and fight threats to America's identity.

100% phoney ... but a real `hoot` if you`re an Elvis fan (and i am - for over 50 years !!) the story line is so bad - it`s good, and the `real` footage of the king is outstanding - lots i`ve never seen before, and i have most things Elvis ! don`t take it too seriously and you`ll have a good time.

As an Elvis fan I am always wary of such projects as i always feel that they can belittle and undermine the King and his body of work. However, this was well done, deeply ironic and whoever plays Jon Burrows?Elvis sounds as close as I have heard any imitator. Not sure f its the same guy singing but whoever that is also sounds as close as you can get with some great takes on mondern numbers

A well made and well researched film. Whether you believe it or not, it is an interesting concept and quite sensitively handled. Enjoy it for what it is and continue to enjoy Elvis for what he is - one of the biggest talents and nicest people ever to have graced this earth.

What a whimsical, fantastical whirlwind ride through popular history from the mind a still living, not deceased - Elvis Presley. A parallel universe if you like.

Some reviewers seem to believe that the film/documentary makers are trying to rip-off Elvis or destroy his reputation and memory. That is not the case and misses the whole point of story – it is a spoof, not to be taken seriously or to be offended by.

I found the 2 hour documentary to be a tongue in cheek light hearted look back at some of the United States' culture, from the mob to black panthers and weathermen to FBI and DEA busts all intermingled with Elvis' life story.

The two hours runtime flew by and was perfectly segmented into chapters. The two story lines - from the 1950's up until 2012 - are obviously separate, running parallel but in no way related to each other, however the makers of this documentary have melded and merged two factual groups of events into one magical Elvis mystery tour, which has been done to perfection.

For viewers who are not aware of the subject matters it must be made clear that some points discussed in the documentary are true and some are rumour and some simply not true. So don't take the contents as historical fact.

I can't recommend this title highly enough, an under-rated and unheralded master class. 9/10.

Having already brought a copy of this i thought i would share it with my friend who is also an Elvis fan. It is very well done and there is alot of information on elvis that until this film i did not know. It was a real insight to his life and for me put paid to the rumours that surrounded his so called death.

If you get past the first 15 mins of bad acting this is actually a quite interesting fantasy scenerio of a possibly alive elvis recounting his life before and after 1977.

Actually this documentary is quite entertaining and well put together with unseen clips of the real King. If you don't take it too seriously.
