5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent DVD for Elvis fans... 17 Dec 2007
Format:DVD
I can't believe no one has reviewed this!. An excellent collection of Elvis's videos from This Year's Model through to Brutal Youth. In the early period its obvious that the band just hurriedly got into a studio and mimed along to 'I Don't Want To Go To Chelsea' and 'Pump It Up'. As the years went by more of an effort is made as the pop video developed as an art form. My favourite videos here are probably 'I Wanna Be Loved' and 'New Lace Sleeves', also 'You Little Fool' is very 80's and quite amusing.

Several very nice touches mark out this dvd as a good purchase, possibly the best Elvis dvd out there. Firstly Elvis himself provides a commentary over the videos explaining little bits of background information about the shoots and directors involved. Also, as an extra feature on the dvd, there are lots of early tv performances of the Attractions. These vary in quality, though the festival in the rain in Holland is a great clip!. Also there's some rare stuff from infamous punk showcase shows like 'So It Goes' and 'Revolver' which was hosted by Peter Cook, here the band is unconvincingly put forward as a punk act. The crowd moshes furiously and jumps around to music that doesn't seem to warrant that! this was also the case in the 80's when Elvis did not fit in with the New Romantics and could see that his videos weren't competing with groups like Duran Duran.
This has never mattered with Elvis Costello though because he is so good so frequently that his talent simply demands attention regardless of prevailing fashions of the time. A great purchase, especially at the budget price!.

4.0 out of 5 stars Elvis' right spectacle 15 Jan 2012
Format:DVD
Have been a Costello fan for many years, and this was a good opportunity to watch the videos accompanying the music. A good extra with this dvd was the man's own commentary of the videos. I especially enjoyed his story of "I can't stand up for falling down", where he likens his stance to that of Smokey Robinson. Classic wit from Mr Costello.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great present for Elvis fan 6 May 2012
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
I bought this present for my partner who is the biggest Elvis Costello fan in the world and he loves it. The video footage covers all the stages of Elvis' long career and Elvis talks the viewer throught the different stages with witty comments. My partner knew the words to all the songs as he sang along and had to watch it one sitting. A must and excellent value for all Elvis fans.
