Elvis appears live in a BBC special with The Attractions, The Brodsky Quartet, The White City Septet and also on his own. It's nice to see the different dimensions of Elvis' recent career all in one place, particularly as the year this was filmed (1996) was the year of the final Attractions gigs, who do a great alternative version of "pump it up". Other highlights include "Pills and soap" with the Brodsky Quartet and "Riot Act". A nice evening in- particularly the bits when it's just ELvis & Steve Nieve- a precursor to the recent gigs together, they sound great particularly on "Veronica".

I really discovered E.C. quite late - just a couple years ago - and I like his songs and his in a way awkward guitarplaying. He has had very tight groups around him, both The Imposters and The Attractions.
In this concert, he shows several sides of himself, and I like that.
Musically he comes around many of his different styles, and he is in a gentle and open mood, presenting his songs with humour and friendliness.
The musicians in the two other groups is fantastic.
I have played this DVD several times in the couple af months, I have owned it, and I am going to play it frequently in the future.
I recommend it full-hartedly.

A wonderful document of the band when Bruce Thomas was still a member. Costello reveals himself to be an incredible showman and is particularly theatrical and funny when he performs 'I Almost Had a Weakness' with the Brodsky Quartet. Another seminal moment on this video is a goose-bumping performance of Shipbuilding, where the Attractions are joined by co-writer Clive Langer and a braw brass section.
