I loved Elvira - Mistress of the dark, and looked forward to another (double! oo-er!) helping of camp goth laughs and single entendres. This film, a loveing pastiche of old horror films, is good, but not as good as its predesessor. This film isnt as sharp. The gags aint as funny, but the whole trashiness of the film sort of saves the day. I love Elvira - someone give her a bigger budget and a better scriptwriter!

The mildly crude pun in the title is indicative of the humor contained in this film. The humor relies mostly on corny jokes, slapstick, and jokes about Elvira's chest and sexual appetite. Elvira (Cassandra Peterson) shows off her cleavage and unfortunately her age, reminding me of a combination of Mae West and Cher.

Elvira and her traveling companion (Mary Jo Smith) end up in a castle where they pay tribute to a couple of Poe tales. The film is dedicated to Vincent Price who performed those tales rather well. Adrian, The stable man (Gabi Andronache) voice was terribly dubbed as part of the humor.

The humor is aimed at male adolescene. I found the humor to be too stale and corny to be funny.

Parental Guide: No F-bombs, sex, or nudity. Elvira gets groped a bit

This film doesn't measure up to her first movie, but it grows on you with repeated viewing. Cassandra Peterson is wonderful as always. A bonus is seeing Richard O'Brien in a film again. Elvira plunders every sleazy horror film cliche and it is most enjoyable

Reading earlier revues, some horror film buffs were not impressed. However, I found this most entertaining ! It is a tribute to those old (sometimes flaky) 'B' films of old, and spoofs many well known scenes from them.

I was so pleased to find another film from the wonderful Elvira and with Richard O Brian,of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" fame,it held so much promise but delivered all "Ham" and no "mustard".With a lazy script that was not aimed quite true to its target and poor production values. The cast worked hard to save it,but to no avial if one had been spoiled aready by the wonderful fun film some years earler "Elvira,Mistress of the Dark" or indeed "The Rocky Horror Picture Show".This film is still worth seeing but view as a TV special and you will not be disappionted.Elvira [DVD]The Rocky Horror Picture Show / Shock Treatment 30th Anniversary 3-Disc Set [DVD]

I greatly enjoyed Cassandra Peterson's first flick, the suitably entitled Elivra: Mistress of the Dark (1988) but sadly her most recent movie, entitled Elvira's Haunted Hills (2001) was at best a sad attempt to make more money. Its storyline was vague and frankly, not in the slightest bit amusing. I found her gags to be un-intellectually stimulating, and even the inclusion of Richard O'Brien as the villain of the piece - a role that frankly left him looking as if he would have been better off if he had never accepted it, left me wondering why this movie was even made at all.

I cannot recall what I paid for Elvira's Haunted Hills, but it certainly was NOT worth it. In fact, to coin Elvira, I'll tell you what the movie was about - it was about an hour and a half too long. No, a definite DO NOT PURCHASE as it simply is not funny - not at all.

This film isn't a patch on the first and, as others have said or implied, suffered from poor scripting and a lack of 'sharpness'. Cassandra Peterson very good as Elvira but should have kept away from the joint scriptwriting!
