Product Description

Product Description

Darfon is a warden not an assassin. He has spent his life patrolling the endless forest, known as the Syyl, protecting the city from any threat that might emerge from the wild. He has climbed thousands of feet into the forest canopy and survived countless deadly challenges, but in all his rings of service, he has never faced anything like Tal-Ril.

The songs paint Tal-Ril as a villain of mythic proportions, who roams the city and the Syyl with his rune-sword in hand. The bards claim his black sword drinks the blood of his victims, gifting him with strength while seeding his mind with madness.

When Tal-Ril discovers a method to destroy the Syyl and end all life, the elders command Darfon to kill him. Darfon pleads with them to send someone more qualified—someone up to the task—but they refuse to listen. It must be him. As he scrambles to make preparations, the elders unexpectedly assign an untrained, naive girl named Xin’noa to assist him. Together they take up the hunt to stop Tal-Ril, rescue the Syyl, and save their people from extinction.

A high fantasy novelette that begins the Legends of the Syyl, an ongoing fantasy series.

Elves: Aza'kor arriving soon.

2.0 out of 5 stars Losing interest 21 Jan 2014

Although this book was free I expected it to hold my interest better than it did. Too short and lacking any real excitement. Sorry but don't waste your time with this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars Short in length and detail 26 Jun 2014

With such a great concept and world being created I was left without much description of the surroundings and the character's appearance. The story ended quite quickly as well with no real build up or climax, just an A to B ending. So much potential unrequited.

Enjoyed the story, another elfin history of singular story telling that made me want more of the story's historical time line.

I read a few chapters and it just didn't do it for me. To be fair maybe it would have gotten better if I read more of it.
