Elton - The Ultimate Showman, 6 Dec 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Elton John-One Night [DVD] (DVD)
When a man with a back catologue spanning 30 years can attract guests such as Billy Joel, Bryan Adams, Mary J Blige, Anastacia, Ronan Keating and Kiki Dee , you know for a fact that the artist in question must be greatly respected.
The live show, spanning Elton Johns Greatest Hits, was recorded at Madison Square Gardens In New York in October 2000. This is a must for any truly serios music fan. Elton John is widely accepted as a brilliant 'live artist', but no more so than at MSG. The atmosphere in this DVD is electric and this is helped by the fact that the whole show is shown with very little editing.
Elton kicks of with Funeral For a Friend/Love Lies Bleeding - from the Goodbye Yellowbrick Road Album. This brilliant instrumental/rocker is followed by the next 3 songs from the 'Classic Album' from 1973, namely Candle in The Wind, Bennie and The Jets and Goodbye Yellowbrick Road (duet with 'The King of New York', Billy Joel).
The sound and performance not only by Elton John but also his band, is second to none.
Hit after hit follow, even minor hits such as Little Jeanie and Club at The End of The Street attract standing ovations.
One highlight is a tribute to John Lennon with a version of the Beatles classic, Come Together.
A rousing finale includes Crocodile Rock, Saturday Nights Alright For Fighting (with Anastacia), The Bitch Is Back, Dont Let The Sun Go Down On Me and finaly, Dont Go Breaking My Heart (with Kiki Dee).
This is a must see for any serios music lover, performer or budding songwriter. Its a shame that this performance came before the release of the new 'Songs From The West Coast' album, as this concert may have gone on for even longer.
Lastly, the DVD included the 'I want Love Video' featuring Robert Downey Jr.
The question is, where will Westlife/Hearsay be 30 years after their first single??

Elton John - Greatest Hits Live [2000], 24 Mar 2005
This was filmed mainly at Madison Square Gardens, NY. He is great. Dead on time and as usual he is worth every penny for the true professional that Elton is. Being Live is fantastic, you really get the feeling that you are there again. The place was packed. Kiki Dee is great, how does she do it. The audience were dancing in the aisles, I love to see the crowd live, he can entertain any age and he mixes so well.

This review is from: Elton John-One Night [DVD] (DVD)
This DVD of Elton John just shows why Elton John is still the best singer/song wrter and performer in the world. With hits from the 70's 80's 90's and even today. Elton performs songs from way back to his very first hit 'your song' in 1970. Elton starts the show with tracks one to four from Elton's 1973 albmGoodbye yellow brick road. Elton perfeorms some rare songs like the hits club at the end of the street and Little Jeannie hits for elton in the 80's. Elton also does a tribute to John lennon with the song 'come together'. My favouite performace elton gives on the DVD is the hit 'The one'. Elton invites the likes of Bryan adams and ronan keating to perform some unforgetable duets with him elton does 5 duets including the number one hit 'Don't go breaking my heart.. Thier are 27 songs on this dvd and it is a fantastic concert from the best man in rock and pop. You do not need to be and elton fan to enjoy this performance. I hope his next live dvd will iclude song from the album Songs from the west coast. This DVD is called one night only but it will live on for EVER.
