To be honest, I would avoid this bike, unless you are comfortble and prepared to put a bit of work into getting it right.
As mentioned in other reviews - the gears are terrible. The frame design means that the gear control cable for the rear derailleur takes a twisty and tortuous route to the back of the bike, with some sharp bends, all making for friction and resistance to gear changes.
The rear derailleur itself is a cheap rivetted low-end Shimano unit with a terribly strong return spring, which you are fighting against all the time when changing gear.
This, plus the fact that the Twist-shifts are cheap and plasticky (and not indexed), makes slick gear changes impossible.. and, eventually, the right-hand shifter actually broke, fighting to change gear against all that resistance from the cable and the derailleur spring. It feels like trying to pull a brick through a length of rubber hosepipe.
Replacing the twist-shifts with decent ones (we did both, not just the RHS/rear, for consistency) made things marginally better but my 10-year old daughter was still really struggling to get this bike into the highest gears.. dangerous when suddenly encountering a hill, on the road, with cars coming past. Yes, it's a boy's bike - but I rode it too, and frankly, I found it impossible as well - and I'm a 40 year old Dad !!
Removing the cables and greasing them internally within their guides, improved things further.. but eventually, the only way to make the setup usable was to physically stretch the return spring inside the rear derailleur - effectively making it less springy so it provided less resistance. Only then - with new twist-shifts, lubricated linkage cables, and a doctored rear derailleur, was the bike properly usable.
The 'proper' solution, of course, would have been to fit a better quality rear derailleur as well as the new twist-shifts, but the cost of all that, would be getting on for 30% of the cost of the bike itself.. and there's still the issue of the really badly designed cable routing.
However - in its favour, the bike itself is nicely made, it's surprisingly light, and has good brakes and wheels. It looks good too, and my daughter loves it, despite the need to invest some time getting it working properly.. which we actually viewed as something of a 'project' so it wasn't the end of the world. It arrived quickly, of course, but this is a reflection on Amazon not on the bike... and was very easy to put together.
So in summary - buy it if you want a basically decent, cheap bike and you need something to do for a couple of Sunday afternoons :-)
Hope this helps.
