This is a vital book for anyone learning Catalan at any level, even the Catalans use it. I found it more useful than any other book or teacher, its layout is simple and it fits in your pocket. Puts all that 'Learn a Language In Five Days With A CD' gubbins to shame.

This is a recension on the Els verbs conjugats by Joan Baptista Xuriguera published by Editorial Claret in Barcelona. I ordered a copy from Busco Books in Lloret de mar, Espanya. The book I received was the newer 10th edition published in 2009. It jumped over the Atlantic rather quickly and thanks to the way Busco Books packed it it was in good order when arrived. When I receive books from Amazon, on the contrary, they're all dog-eared from having fun dancing all way along in the box.
I've been teaching myself català for several months now and I needed verb conjugation charts in a book form from the very beginning. Finally I found it. The main body of the work lists 120 verbs from absoldre to voler. At the end of the work there's an índex which lists close to 9,000 additional verbs so that you can refer back to an appropriate verb with the same conjugation pattern out of the 120.
The book does the job nicely for me and, no doubt, would do so for the majority of the learners.

While I cannot fault the book for its comprehensive cover of verbs and their respective conjugations, I must warn prospective purchasers that there are no English translations included.
The book includes a vast array of verbs and is very clearly presented and is therefore valuable as a reference for intermediate students. However, as an absolute beginner to the Catalan language, English translations of every verb are essential. I don't recall this being stated in the product description or mentioned in the other reviews - had I known this before adding it to my basket I would have thought twice about buying it. Now, I only use it in conjunction with an internet translator or with other refernce books.
In summary, if the book had translations I would have given it five stars. Without the translations, for me, it only gets three.
