I think there is a lot of negative reviews against the Elonex Onet, I have only had it for 2 weeks and may be speaking too soon. I think alot of people think this mini laptop should be able to the same as a normal size laptop. For Starters it does not have the memory space. If you are look for a laptop with a large memory, flash player, Windows and having a cd/dvd drive then this is not the machine for you and if this is what you,re looking for then obviously you will need to spend more than the price of this. However if you are looking for a small laptop that main purpose is to use internet/e-mail with bonus extras then this is the MINI laptop is for you.

I'm researching low end laptops and netbooks to support the learning needs of preschool/primary school-aged children and young adults and came across - apparently the ultimate budget machine - in the form of the ONEtplus. Lured by the success of an ASUS eee PC 701 4GB Surf, I was tempted to try this machine out.

Sadly, I wish I'd stuck with the eee.

The build quality of this machine is poor. AND the look is too: glossy black outer, gives way to 80s childrens toy silver plastic and giant logo. The lid of the ONEtplus is lightweight and flimsy feeling, and the incorporated power button (on the underside of the lid? WHY???) requires significant force before it will respond. In pure weight terms, the ONEtplus wins out over the eee as an ultraportable, as it is much the lighter machine... but since it is also a resources lightweight AND ugly as hell, it's not where my vote goes.

The machine is slow to load up... well, to do anything really. OK, in 2009 this shouldn't be surprising from a 128Mb machine: but, again, I was falsely lulled into a sense of security by my experience of (the previously unfamiliar to me) Linux. In common with other aspects of this machine, the setup is horrendously ugly and although the disappointing list of preinstalled software can be modified readily enough from appropriate free sites it is unimpressive having to do so.

I have always had a Psion for purposes of address book, finance sheets, databases and word-processing on the move. After the hinge broke again on my Psion 5, I was dismayed that the only way to have it repaired was by a complete service costing £125. Although the netbook is larger in size, the benefits over the Psion are immeasurable, particularly with the screen and functionality. I doubt if I will use it for the internet, and will continue to use it as I used the Psion PDA. I am very happy with what I have received for the money. My overall computing needs are already well-catered for with my laptop and desktop computers, and I find this to be an excellent tool for 'on the move' computing - trips, holidays, camping etc. I was not expecting an all-singing dancing gold-plated machine, but I do like its looks.
