If I'd rated this TV-cum-picture-frame after a day I'd have given it 5 stars, after a week I might have given it 1, now after a month I reckon it deserves 4. Here are my reasons:

Picture quality: Is really nice - near black blacks and good colours/skin tones and 720x480 means no jaggies - so your still pictures look good too.

Sound quality: TV sound isn't so good, but mp3s sound better and you can always use the headphone socket to connect to something more meaty.

OK, now I bought this box of tricks so I could use it as a freeview box to power a normal TV that didn't have freeview and it works a treat although the AV out uses a fairly non-standard cable - so don't lose it!

I also bought this TV because it claims to play mpeg 1/2/4 (from the USB/SD slots) - well that's not so clear cut. It plays the mpeg-1s from my digital camera but not from anything else (even when I use an excellent tool like SUPER to re-encode videos to as close to the format of my digital camera as I can get) - the TV will crash too if you get it wrong, so you'll have to pull the power. It will play MPEG-2s but seemingly only if they're in VOB (as per DVDs) format and not encrypted - which means you're going to need something like DVDshrink combined with SUPER to rip your non-homemade VOB images into something suitable to fit on a USB stick or memory card. I have yet to find an MPEG-4 format that this TV will actually play - and Elonex do not answer their support emails - so be warned - you're on your own in this respect.

4.0 out of 5 stars 7" Digital TV / Photo frame 13 July 2009
A great little item. A very clear picture viewing both photographs or Digital TV. Make sure you have good digital reception where you wish to place this TV / Photo frame as the supplied aerial is not the best in the world.
One gripe is the menu system, which could be more intuitive and the instructions booklet could actually give instructions on how to find the menu items it refers to.
Overall it "does what it says on the tin" and is a great conversation piece.

It is a fantastic piece of kit, especially considering the price.
I bought it out of curiosity, but I am blown away by what it does. Freeview TV - Video Player - Music Player - Picture Frame. Buy one today!!!!!
