I bought this board book for my grandaughter when she was 18 months old. 'Book' became one of her earliest words, and it was always Elmer that she wanted.
Elmer, the patchwork elephant, has lots of animal friends that are different shapes and sizes. These early comparison words are introduced within the text. On the last page we meet Elmer's New Friend who is the person reading the book - there is a non breakable mirror for the child to see him or herself.
The book is well made, but unfortunately Grandaughter (three months later) has loved the book to bits. It is now in tatters.
